Pompei was a very quick kind of magma whereas most of Icelandic volcanos don't have very quick lava... except one which could be erupting very soon. I know that because my dad is the director of disaster management in the Icelandic Red cross but Iceland right now in almost all cases has a plan for volcanic eruptions here.

You can see that some states in Africa and Asia are gray like the North Korea is. That means people don’t travel in those countries so much.
