SCP concepts and games are always fascinating to me since the horror isn't all just jump scares or "generic evil creature". The sheer creativity or uniqueness of them (for the most part) always surprises me.

Idk if it was done intentionally, but for the first game at 7:41 when the guards explode, their blood splatters on the wall seem to kinda resemble wings and going with the overall theme that the interrogation had I thought it was a really cool detail.

"No weapons beyond this point" Proceeds to walk into room with two armed soldiers....

To see a literal demon with a floating eye above it and say “I don’t believe in higher powers” somehow seems real fckin stupid 🤔

Protag in the second game 100% died in the school fire from smoke inhalation, and is going through some kind of wacky purgatory shenanigans. She uses inhalers for health, there's a weird amount of focus on the lungs, and her breathing's incredibly loud in the monster sections. Then there's the overly obvious 'yo the person im looking for is in a school photo from 25 years ago' thing. Also, the setup is pretty much the same as Silent Hill's

I want a comedy SCP game where you interview famous SCPs on their attitudes towards their celebrity status

Love that people took the idea of stage fright and made it into a horror game.

One of the neat touches of Spotlight Face in the 2nd game is that their spotlight brightens the entire area around them, and not just directly where it's shining. It makes the light a bit more realistic, since light in the real world bounces off of stuff like that. I'm pretty sure the developer just put a second diffuse light on Spotlight Face's area rather than using some sort of real diffusion shader, but it still looks good (and was probably pretty easy to programming-wise).

Speaking of "interesting health items", inhalers are pretty interesting as an object in general. Two misty spray inhalations and an asthma attack is warded off? I'll admit I didn't have much faith in mine and I required an inhaler only a year ago(I'm 32).

Game 1: It was nice of Sister Maria to take the time out to talk with us before bringing forth Judgment Day. 😆 Game 2: I legit got mad this was a demo I was so invested! I already have a hunch that Spotlight Head was one of **those** teachers and Amy became a victim of circumstance.

The second game definitely looks promising. The setting, sound, and overall design was lovely for two people. Hope you'll show it off when it does come out, we're all invested already.

Man this SAP is wild. That second game was great, though. One of the best executions of "thing with light-cone is hunting you" I've seen.

I laughed so hard when I saw the title of the second game... I taught Engish to children at school. I used the textbook called "Spotlight". They sure feared it, hahaha

The Interview was solid, the SCP-like monster was unique enough to be creepy. Fear the Spotlight's demo was pretty good. We've got enough story scraps to be interested, a demonstration of some solid puzzles and the atmosphere is good.

The boy with the spotlight head is either a heartbroken Bobby who crushes on Melissa, or a devastated Chrissy who got her role taken away. Poor children :(

Idk why, but I have a feeling that Fear the Spotlight is about overcoming stage fright, like in a play, judging by how towards the end of the demo, you have to go into a drama room, and the fact that the main antagonist so far is a guy with a spotlight on his head

Sound design in the second game is pretty good, the music when the monster is in the room really makes me think of the silent hill sirens

Omnipotent beings are always so judgy, and yet so light on details. Seems they can always say what your sin is, but not why it's a sin. By what right do they judge humanity? Or is it "pride" to even question the right of the almighty to judge?

Drama class and intrigues about relationships/jealousies between students are always good. And the use of the inhaler as a health item brings an odd bit of realism to it. But agree about the filter being too heavy. And I know it's a demo, but I hope the lore sheds more _light_ on the spotlight monster.

I like how you interview an SCP, would be cool to see more games where you have an analytical approach to SCPs.

If there's one thing we can take away from this, it's that Manly is caught up on the DBS manga.

The easiest route the devs of the 'Fear the Spotlight' might go is making Amy be actually Amber, due to the fact their names start identically. Also, I want to point out that Raoul is also a name of a character from 'The Phantom of the Opera' and the game mentions the play as well (and that the drama club performed it). And one of the students also have that name. Hm.

I'm always fond of any game that uses inhalers as a power up/healing item- as an Asthmatic, I'm pretty sure they're the closest thing in my mind to a powerup since my childhood.

Ive been struggling with my game, Im foing an scp like where you are the dispatcher and operator. Ordering the troops to rooms closing doors and keeping staff safe. I hope showing all these indie games pushes me toward my goal.

Hey Manly! Idk if you'll see this but if you want a good game to play, I recommend Limbo Line! It's free but it's fully voiced other than the main character and I'd say it's pretty fun. I won't go too much into it because spoilers and whatnot but you should check it out! This also goes for anyone reading this.

Interesting that I just watched a bunch of SCP videos and then today Manly plays a SCP video.

You know, I was just having this conversation with a co-worker the other night. I consider myself Agnostic, I don't personally believe anyone has the evidence to support or deny the existence of "God", we will all figure it out eventually. Maybe all religions are just different facets from the same source? You know, how the Holy Trinity is supposed to be separate entities all from the same power? The Father, Son and Holy Ghost, they are not one another, but they are all God. The thing is, I have a pretty open mind, what was once considered "magic" is now explained with science. Like, one of my personal theories is that the big bang could have simply been used as a "tool" by God to create everything. Science and God could go hand in hand, they created existence, so they created science. Science is simply a label to describe the process of manipulating and observing the world around us. Anyways, I'm getting off topic here.. My response to Sister Maria would be that I don't believe in the concept of blind devotion and that in a modern day era, God would need to prove themselves to me in order for me to follow them. If Jesus walked in to my house and did something otherworldly, I'd be on my hands and knees. Them being there doesn't automatically make them a messenger of God. If God exists, then there's likely other things too. But when was the last time God actually directly worked with humanity? Bonus points, when was the last time God worked with humanity in a way that was non-destructive? At least in the Old Testament God was a pretty big asshole. If I die and go to some concept of the afterlife, like Heaven, and I am judged poorly because of this, I don't know if I'd want to devote myself to that kind of judgmental "God" anyways. Hell, with the state of the world these days, how do we know Lucifer wasn't the true god and simply lost? Most of the Satanists I know are great people in comparison to judgmental Christians I know.

Thank you once again, Manly, for covering these indie games. I must say the PS1-2 horror genre has a very clear objective: "we want to sell a good story, or fun mechanics, or endearing/appealing character". It doesn't need to hide behind fancy graphics, it's substance over aspect. The PS1 genre games will hover around silent Hill themes much like many of the current ones, but they have a huge chance to expand and flourish. I actually will be wishlisting Fear the spotlight thanks to you, for bringing it closer to the larger audience.

Fear The Spotlight feels like a different version of Silent Hill 1, which is a good thing mind you.

I think in the first one, we can see the entity in his death but judging from how knowing the entity was of the wife's death, I think the day we die is "judgment" for everyone, and maybe the entity is in some way responsible for everyone who has ever died. In the first ending, you being directly murdered was it giving judgment directly, but in the second ending, it waits for how you "should" die, and that's when you're judged.

The inhaler "health" ytem has been in Gylt on Stadia a couple of years ago. Also the monster seems Evil Within inspired.

Unrelated other than the vhs style. Turned on an older tv and it did the "bweeeeeee" startup/warming up sound and got sad at how old I felt. I really want to go get the old tv from my grandma's and setup my snes and have a great time.

Fear The Spotlight definitely looks more fun. Gives me Evil Within vibes.

I think the spotlight creature was the drama teacher, I don't remember if it was said but I think that when those kids destroyed the costume they probably set it on fire. Burning down the whole school. The drama teacher possibly died. Now I think he's a vengeful spirit looking for the children that caused his death. I believe its him because of the design of the creature may be representative of how he put kids in the spotlight, but now of course he wants them dead. I feel the game will have you put this creature to rest, either peaceful or violent.

If I had to guess the creature in the second game would be the drama teacher who died in the fire.

In the first game in the beginning the "he killed 27 people in a church" reminded me a LOT of this alternate/pocket reality gas mask SCP
