I don’t know where you get that price but it cost 239$ to replace Note 9’s display while 329$ for the Xs Max. But I’d say it’s easier to fix the Xs display compared to Note’s. Specially in Norway, if you don’t get the phone fixed in time they give you a brand new phone. Which I’d say is worth the 329$ I pay for the iPhone repair coverage.

Also Apples display is much MUCH easier and faster to change so if you are paying some one labor, the Apple will more than likely be cheaper overall And if you are doing it yourself there is much less of a chance to damage anything in the Apple So yeah the display might be a little cheaper for Samsung, but may cost you more overall That being said, I do hope Apple makes the back glass at least a little easier to change, but like was said above, the front glass/display matters a lot more

@@Matts3dbuilds yep, iphone Xs max lost function of 1/3 of the screen when the note 9 didnt so that means the note 9 is durable....you cant use an iphone when parts of the screen is unresponsive, same thing that happened to the iphone X,the bottom portion became unresponsive when it faced the note 8, so they threw in the towel. Iphone x survived 5 out of 10 drops, note 8 survived all 10 out of 10 drops and screen was still responsive just like the note 9 screen even though the note 9 glass suffered more damage than the note 8 glass

So $29 + $269 = $298 to replace your screen...seems like it's "significantly" reduced from the usual $329. Note 9 front screen repair is $239wothout Sammy's PremiumCare and will drop when the S10 comes out in 4 months. Also you can do self repair without losing any features other than the water/dust proof rating. With iPhone XS say goodbye to FaceID.

Brandon Yeo While insurance is important and can reduce the costs, it still shouldn't have to cost as much as $600 whether or not you have Applecare. Apple just doesn't want people messing with or even repairing their own devices. Why else would they design the housing in such an inefficient manner? From what I've heard they don't actually replace the back glass, but the entire back housing, just transferring the internals to the new housing. Meanwhile Samsung will replace just the panel, because it isn't adhered completely to a metal plate and just on the edges where it needs to be. Apple could have designed the back of all of the X series phones so that the repair process is as efficient as possible, but they made it inefficient and costly. I would go for the Note 9 personally, as it's not much slower than the XS Max, and I can send it to Samsung and get my back glass replaced for $99 out of warranty, or I can just buy one for less online with some basic tools and do it myself. I also have a theory as to why the Note 9 is slower: Bloatware and less optimization. I want to see Phonebuff test these phones again, but with no carrier bloatware if there is any, just to at least see if that would make a difference. I'm curious.

While I'm definitely more of an android fan, I do not agree with you on that. The bonus drop test was meant to see how a phone can perform in the most extreme situations possible, which makes it very much depended on.. LUCK. You can't expect EVERY note 9 to survive these many bonus drops, nor can you assume that all iPhone Xs Maxs can only survive 3. That's exactly why the final test was said to be a "bonus" - it's just not fair to rate a phone's durability with the rating system you provided, because literally 9 out 10 phones won't be able to perform better than the note 9, even if they're more durable, if you judge them like this.

I did get your point. I'm just saying that the grading system IS actually making sense if you think about it. Like I said, the bonus drop test was depended on LUCK a lot, which makes it unfair to judge the phones with it. And by making the points each phones own closer on the bonus test, the results of the previous tests would make more effects on the final result, making the test more fair. I think the results were pretty well calculated in this video, and I think we both agree that note 9 is the winner anyway.
