tried this also with not much of a difference, ended up making my own sliqx soul with cutting board material and that worked out pretty well.

I use sliqx plates. Much faster and slows down the wear too. I think I'll add some dimples on the negative though.

I bought a 1 square foot piece of uhmw on amazon for 12$, traced the soul plate on it and cut it out, drilled a couple holes and used some razors soul plate receptors and bolts to screw them on. They work amazing!! And way cheaper than buying the slicks

I think the issue with Aeon souls must come from the material and manufacturing. As the frame and soul are made from the same material as the boot shell, it will have had to be a compromise to have the right feel for the shell and a the soul despite needing a different compound. Edit - after I pressed send on that comment you explained exactly the same thing haha.

Ya, my car was covered in ice today! Luckily i only had to go to heb real quick. Hopefully that helps a little bit, but i honestly don't think you are losing enough surface area to matter. I also wonder if it might slide worse now on surfaces like concrete (any surface that is rougher). It will be interesting to see what your results are!

I always thought the holes were for gathering wax over time and then that made everything faster.....I was pretty stupid as a kid

My opinion on speed dimples: Pretty fine for park, rail and prepared "skate ready ledges" plus: You can even wax the soul itself better with dimples :-D ;-) ... but there are some disadvantages on really rough surfaces like concrete with little stones or bumps in it. The bumps could catch in the dimples an slow down again - and it's even possible to now experience a new bite: Soul bite. ;-) 🤐 To not even have problems with such materials: Get Sliqx and apply them at best before you skate your Aeons for the first time to get the perfect fit. The $70 are not cheap, but reinforced with the Sliqx material the Aeon boot/soul will last at least 3x longer, what it might be worth it on the long run. ;-) A tiny "con": You lose some frame height for which you have to adjust / get used to it (affects practically only Aeon 60s)... For topsides etc. Or get some high quality plastic material, short t-nuts and screws and DIY for ~ $15. I'm curious about your dimple experiences already. ✌️ from Europe.

Holey :D Been there, done speed dimples, still slow soul. And they will get slower as soul plates are worn. In the end, hand made uhmw plates are good, sliqxs also :)

Better plastic would have been a good idea on the aeons

I just bought a sheet of HDPE from eBay pretty cheap and made my own sliders, it’s quite easy

having skated these myself I have to agree that they are very slow, this shows why boots come in different plastic types. Just imagine this skate is a Kizer dimond plastic

My Sway57s came with speed dimples on the soul plate. Kinda weird usd didn't do that with the more expensive aeons

So since I’ve been back to skating I have had 2 pair of aeons. The sliqx plates are worth the money if you plan to skate the aeons for awhile. I have recently bought a pair of the enin shadow pro model and they slide so much faster. Even a lot faster than the sliqx plates. I don’t think you ok go back to aeons again after this. I didn’t realize how slow they were especially after the sliqx plates.

I did the dimples and could tell no difference. Just have to wax every 5 tricks.

They are durable! But you can’t replace anything, and it will cost you 150 $ to buy a new boot! Why not buy a replacement? Save the earth!

$300 for a pair of skates isn’t cheap and don’t sit there and think or tell people that it’s cheap because that’s not cheap back in the day skates for like 250 bucks for a good pair of skates you can’t even change the frames on these things they’re not worth 300 400 bucks they’re garbage
