Ironhead Sportster Cafe Racer
This a a cafe racer I built based on a 75 ironhead sportster. I like this model as it is a great looking engine (love those parallel pushrod tubes) and they were chain drive (like a proper bike) and 1000cc. Not the ideal bike for a cafe I know as they are not exactly svelte, but it was a fun build, achieved cheaply, and I think the final result looks ok...

If HD had sense, they would make this bike. It is one of the best-looking Harleys I've ever seen.

Very nice. Did you ever finish it? I'd love love to see the finished product. And one of the best I've seen of this bike. All the rest just don't seem all that great to me.

Ha. Still a work in progress, although it has been going ok and used a fair bit. I'm about to fit twin front disc brakes, and might install kicker while I'm at it, and address some of the oil leaks. Probably a winter project once I get some time. Cheers for your comments...

Very very clean Cafe brother! I love it! I have not seen one that looks as good as yours, how did you get that seat to fit so well and it looks like you have a different rear subframe do you? Man and I would love to see how you actually built this bike up if you have video of it dude I wouldn't seriously love to see it, have you thought about making a how to video of this bike?

Extremely Cool !!! Love it ! And sounds awesome! I have always loved the old iron head engines, although I own a 2001 evo sportster which I also love.

Thanks, yeah I reckon it sounds great too, and I have a ball riding it. Poor old girl has been a bit neglected as I have other projects on the go, but I'll give her some attention soon. Cheers for the comments...

I'm still working on my bike. It's an '01 Evo sportster. I've already converted to chain drive and mechanical ignition timing weights w/aftermarket electronic ignition. Far better than the '01 stock setup. Looking for laced wheels next. Then on to engine, carb, and exhaust system. I want to go with a moderate sound with retro looks, similar to what you have there for the exhaust system. It sounds incredibly nice! Have fun with your old girl!
