Is BELIEVING in Jesus' Death, Burial and Resurrection ENOUGH to be saved?

Our listener asks, "So my question would be: Is the moment a person
believes the gospel, are they saved? - Like, believes
the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. I know
details of who Jesus is are important, but they’re a
matter of your salvation. Like when people say ‘saving faith’ meaning to
put all your faith in Jesus and to trust Him. I
thought it meant trusting what He did for you to
be sufficient. So I think my question is, are people
not saved if they don’t believe Jesus is God? Are they not saved if they believe the gospel but
low key don’t understand they are saying works
are needed, meaning producing fruit? Or if
someone doesn’t exactly understand the trinity?
Are all these people hell-bound, even though they believe the gospel and Jesus? It’s driving me
crazy thinking people I love are going to hell
because I know they believe the gospel, and they
know Jesus. I know they have a relationship, even
though I know that isn’t technically a requirement. But I just know these people with all their heart
believe Jesus died for their sins and was
resurrected. But all the other details, to these
people, are not understood. Like people who say
their salvation can be lost. I believe they only think that because of man
scaring them, and then they get confused. Just
hard to think of because the details are blurry and
confused. Are they condemned?"

Wrong! You were cleansed of sins under the law but not after you come to Christ. Bible is clear that all your FORMER sins are washed not future sins. Amen, after reading the Bible in jail and believing in Jesus Christ, I came out and started listening to and watching false teachers like MacArthur Paul Washer Todd Friel and the likes. To this day I still have to realize how I was brainwashed by these guys. Even when I was following them and new I was possibly not saved, I prayed to God and said that no matter what I will always believe in His Son Jesus Christ and I would keep believing on Him till the day I die despite not feeling saved. Today, I am glad but still lack assurance. However, I remember that I am trusting in Jesus Christ's death burial and resurrection. For He died for our sins. And right before He died He said, "It is finished " Praise the Lord. Amen.

Quoting scripture correctly is a good thing but that doesn't necessarily mean that a person is saved. Are you believing in the true Jesus? Do you believe in Jesus who He is sinless? I agree many are confused, including perhaps myself to a degree. I love your channel, and have watched countless videos with great benefit. For this one, I probably am going to have to watch several more time because I am more confused at the end than the beginning. I know so many people that say they believe in Jesus, the death, and resurrection, but do not believe without their efforts and works they are saved, or might loose it. As I understand the Gospel, salvation is through faith and His grace alone, and that faith is in Jesus who is God, who died on the cross, whose spilled blood was for all who would believe that blood and act is the saving grace, and the resurrection, and that is the faith that is required for the promise of salvation, forever. It is so confusing to draw the box around the true meaning if the gospel, what is faith, and what is repentance. And should there be any lack of clarity in those definitions, their is confusion, and lost souls. I continue to pray to better understand.

When I got saved back in 1977 I had no idea about the Trinity. I did believe that Jesus was God and that He had died for my sins and rose again. I knew I was a sinner from the time I was only 4 years old and that is not an exaggeration of my age. I committed a whopper of a sin when I was only 4 and that was the day I came to know right from wrong ever since that day. Btw, I had never once to my knowledge ever been told to "repent of all my sins" either and probably would not have even understood that. I was 20 y/o when I was born again.

But she is saying to her friends and people she knows I talk too much about GOD and how to be saved. She is 13 and lives with my ex who left me in 2013. So I only get to see her a couple of times a week. She has been really mean to me in the past and we talked about that, but when she recently came over she was so mean and disrespectful yelling at me to get out of my own living room so she could watch her series on tv. I lost my temper and screamed at her slammimg the door behind me. I am really at a loss right now because all I can think of is that I want her to be in Heaven with Jesus Christ forever and be saved. I know I am saved and going to be in heaven by the Grace of GOD through Jesus. but, it would break my heart if she wasn't there with me also. It just reminds me of that saying " you can lead a horse to water but can't make them drink" . please keep me and and the salvation of my daughter in your prayers. what is impossible with man is possible with GOD . Faith Without Works Is Dead James 2:"14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without [f]your works, and I will show you my faith by [g]my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is [h]dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made [i]perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was [j]accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

In the beginning we are saved made alive who were once dead in trespasses and sin. God delivers us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of his son. That's just the beginning of our lifelong journey our walk our conversion. We are out of Egypt but not in promise land yet. According to Jesus not everyone in the kingdom of Christ will enter the kingdom of God in the end....the son of man will send out his angels and they will gather out of his kingdom all things that offend and those who practice lawlessness and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. He who has ears to hear let him hear...and as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for him he will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation....for as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order Christ the firstfruits afterwards those who are Christ at his coming....marvel not at this for the hour is coming in which all who are in the Graves will hear his voice and come forth those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation....there is a difference between being saved made alive our conversion in the beginning and being resurrected unto life when Christ returns judgement our resurrection. That's why it not only matters if we believe remain faithful to Christ. It also matters how we live our walk our righteousness now.....

This is a solid video. It is not having perfect theology that saves a person. Sometimes people act as if God is looking for ways to exclude people from the Kingdom but we should remember that he is a God who "wants all men to be saved." @sorenpx Actually what "saves" people is belief. Belief that Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sin. It's forgiveness that gets us to Heaven; "salvation"....however doesn't dictate whether we are or aren't going to Heaven. Salvation does say that we believe we are Heaven-bound. We are forgiven and Heaven-bound because it's God's will through Christ. It's not from our correct thoughts or correct beliefs or works. Meaning that through Christ; many more are going to Heaven than what most Christians think.

I want to clarify some points that may or may not have been mentioned in detail: 1) this is a blood stained gospel. don’t gloss over that three letter word “HOW” that Christ died. In 1 Corinthians 1-4; He was crucified and it was His shed blood that is the perfect atonement for our sin. He who knew no sin became sin that we might be made the righteousness of God. It’s not just that Christ died and rose again. He could have choked on some bread at the last super and rose again 3 days later. That doesn’t save you. It’s the fact that His innocent blood was shed. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin it tells us in Hebrews. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust. You and I broke Gods moral law and Jesus said with his last breathe on the cross “it is finished”. Paid in full. Jesus paid the penalty that you and I deserved. That allows God to do that which is right and just. Your guilty but He can let you go because someone (Jesus) paid the fine. The unbeliever doesn’t have someone paying their fine, they want to pay it themselves (that’s hell for all of eternity because sin is that serious to a perfect and Holy God). The wages of sin is death. You must accept this through faith. This is believing in your heart, not just your head. Knowing in your head Jesus died on the cross is not enough but believing in your heart through faith is what God is after I believe.

I wouldn’t distinguish organs in trying to explain this. The heart doesn’t think, but it pumps blood. I agree with most of what you said aside from this, but I think I know what you are saying. Knowing it happened, and believing it happened for you is different. Nevertheless, the believing is not qualified by anything more than placing your assurance or confidence in Jesus Christ who died for your sins, was buried and is risen again. Also on Robert breaker, His idea of hyper Dispensationalism salvation is ridiculous. We don’t care to attack him or anything, but Abraham, David, Solomon, Elijah, Rahab, Nicodemus, and multitudes of others BELIEVED the gospel. They believed alone in Christ for the payment of their sins. A time stamp with relation to the cross makes no difference when the payment for sin is an eternal payment. - Trent

The blood is not hyper dispensational. There are many verses on the blood that spell salvation. Our faith is to be in the blood stained gospel, for without the sheding of blood there is no remission of sins. We are justified by his blood, we are bought nearer by his blood, this is what the bible says quite clearly. The big issue I have that gets my blood boiling is the heresy of calvinisim. People need to wake up as I question these people and.if they are actually saved.

@@pj3062 I believe that there are saved calvinist. However, the deeper into calvinism you get into, youll learn that their doctrine basically says that God is the originator of sin, on top of the whole predestination thing. My issue is that why would God create me or you if I was just predestined to hell and there was no hope for us whatsoever? More importantly, whats the point of Jesus dying for us if He only died for a select group of people like this is one big lottery system? It makes no sense for God to want no man to perish but somehow predestines or "wills" majority to perish.

For what it’s worth I know this may sound bold but I believe if that’s the case they’re still unsaved…why? Because the Bible says explicitly in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 that the gospel by which we are saved is that Christ died for our sins was buried and rose again the third day. That is how Jesus atoned for our sins and it’s through that payment we receive our justification. If they don’t believe in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus they have not trusted in the gospel….

To believe in Jesus as being the Savior is to understand that He died for sin, was buried and rose again. @@BibleLinebut Christ wasn’t even dead when the Apostles or Martha believed , nor did they realize it was going to happen, yet the Bible clearly says they were believers. And in John 3 Jesus never told Nicodemus being born again meant believing He was going to die and rise again. What they and we NEEDED to believe was He gives us eternal life simply by believing in Him for it. His death burial and resurrection were proof that He is God and could offer that and fulfill His promise, and also took away the sin barrier between man and God. We believe in the Giver, Jesus, for what he offers, His free Gift, eternal life, to all who believe. It’s even more simple than what you are teaching, don’t you think? If we are not allowing our daily life to be LED by the unseen, 'unheard' Creator of All but instead we are making decisions for ourselves based on our own intellect (or ours or somebody else's interpretation of the Bible), we are not Christians. Submitting to being led shows our Faith in that we Believe. The question of whether they are saved or not becomes superfluous to a True Believer because that is the very nature of the Faith required to be Called a Daughter or Son of the One on High. The Truth is, every "humble and gentle" true Christian will not be concerned, they know they do not deserve Eternity, but they have learnt from Him Complete Faith in His Just nature. He demands you learn this from Him while in relationship with Him. Not from the Bible, and not from someone trying to intellectually persuade you from their academic opinion.

James is not making the point that you think he is making. They have faith, and they are saved; this is clear in chapter 1:1 through 2:11. James is pointing out the fact that they are hypocritical and lack works to profit anyone else. The devils “believe and tremble.” Do you think the devils are busy doing nothing? They trust in Jesus as their savior and do nothing? It’s impossible. James gives 4 main illustrations of people/spiritual forces that contain works accompanied by faith. The demons obviously cannot receive eternal life, but they sure do know their place before God. They’re busy every day. Hence, they tremble at almighty God. James’ point was that believers also ought to tremble in similar fashion with regard to the fact that Almighty God will judge the saved according to their works. This judgment doesn’t determine your salvation, but there are severe consequences otherwise. - Trent

@@BibleLine Hi Trent. Thanks for responding. It is not me that is missing the point. It is you. You use "faith" as if it is an easily achieved goal. It is not. In order to have faith you need to do whatsoever Jesus commands Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Remember this: 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Then there's this: Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Then this: Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. and this: Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. So far...you have to repent. You have to be baptised. You have to receive the Holy Spirit. There's more, but you get the picture. There are a multitude of scriptures that point out the problems with your "faith alone" doctrine. Those few I listed are just the tip of an immense iceberg! The James 2 warning is for all those that espouse the "just believe" or "faith alone" doctrine. The point being made is that even satan believes but is unable to access the promises of God, so believing isn't enough. I can quote you the scriptures if you wish.

Salvation is an instant event that takes place the moment an individual believes in Christ. This is how the Holy Spirit fell “as Peter spake” to Cornelius’ house. They believed apart from any works, and they were saved. In the context of the passages you cite from Titus and Philippians, you must consider who Paul is talking to and what Paul is talking about. He is most assuredly talking about works. He is also talking to already saved people. Why would already saved people need works? “Working OUT your salvation” is sharing it with others. It’s not like lifting weights…. That’s a terrible exegesis of the context. Titus claims the works are “good and profitable toward men.” This is the same thing James is getting across. Include the context, and you find that works have ZERO bearing on salvation OR assurance of salvation. Christ is my assurance, and Him alone. He died for my sin.
