@@grahammerry7031 well mate, say that he only managed mickey mouse cubs is a atrocious statement, that is only done cause of his eurocentric way of seeing the sport. ange was successful on australia, japan, scotland and international football in very different scenarios. adored in every place he has managed, but not just that, he arrived at the premier league with the best start on 10 games a manager have ever had, and is having a very solid first season at tottenham. how many managers on england today have worked so hard to earn their places?? i am not belittling him, but arteta literally got his first ever job at a big 6 club. the mate is highly connected with the club culture and the supporters. and if you want to talk about high reputation managers that managed tottenham in the last years, antonio conte and josé mourinho, they did not solve anything. that is why this mate knows nothing about football, and barely anyone that uses the term "mickey mouse clubs" do, because is just a pathetic way of belittle foreign football.

Don't be arrogant in your comments. Everywhere he has gone, he has won silverware. Just because he now working in England does not matter? Your league has far more money than any league in the world. Alex Ferguson, Arsène Wenger are 2 of the most successful managers in Premier league history. Both where succesful before coming to England. It is down to their mentality and philosophy. In my opinion Angecis cut with the same cloth. He will be a massive success in England no matter if it is Spurs or elsewhere. He is a born winner.

Spurs fan of 35 years here, for me Ange has been a breathe of fresh air with regards to how he manages the media, how he talks about the process he is undertaking, and the way he presents after a win/loss. We have made some excellent additions to the squad already, and in all likelihood will made additional sizeable changes in the summer. This will take a few more windows, in my view at least another two (summer and winter 2024) to get the adequate depth in the squad to make Top 4 'more' of a certainty. The only thing I will say is that the euphoria around Ange has started to run out within a lot of the fan base IMO, and he needs to start getting consistent performances. We still see Spurs either winning 3-0 away, or losing 0-1 at home a week later.

A wider context is that the league is WAY more competitive than at the start of Klopp or even Arteta. That he is so ahead of them after 26 games is remarkable.
@alzer6467
@alzer6467 2 ай бұрын
Or maybe apply context and realise that every situation is different. E.g. Arteta had a way worse team, took over his 1st job during covid and wasn't given money until he cleared the squad and cut the wage bill. This is such a basic argument that Klopp and Arteta took a while so other managers will take a while. Not all managers are Arteta and Klopp. So now we see people advocating for managers like Poch and Ten Hag, who won't succeed with their flawed tactical set ups, to be given time because Arteta was given time. Having said that Ange looks better than Poch and Ten Hag.

The xGC is from the nature of the style of football, its a very high line and with both fullbacks occupying the forward half spaces it leaves massive gaps down the channels. If it wasn't for the recovery pace of micky and front foot defending of Romero we would of conceded a ton more. I do however, believe that number will reduce when we have a more commanding midfield. If we got a proper six, an anchor like rodri or rice and manage to control games throughout the game states then the defence won't be as relied upon. It starts from the front and pressing as a team, winning balls back in the final third and being first to the second balls in midfield. At the moment it's a little chaotic, moments of great football and periods of hanging on for dear life. Give it time, only after two to three seasons will I properly judge Ange.

You imply he only has one way of playing which, with all due respect, is nonsense. Compare the performance away to Arsenal with home to Man United and with away to Villa today. The tactics vary hugely. Ange definitely uses the clubs social media to his advantage. The twitter videos will show the same routine over and over again, ball out wide, crossed in low. But I’ve seen them training, these routines are 10 mins out of 2 hours. He just wants people to think he has one way of playing. See the goals since Christmas, how many have been ‘typical Ange goals’? Very few. Balls over the top to the pacey forwards have created more

It's not that spurs concede less It's that when they do concede they lose incredibly important points against teams they should on paper be winning against. They always lose by one or two points carelessly in matches that matter the most against teams they can absolutely beat. Losing against Fulham today by 3 is an embarrassment for a top of the table team, losing 2-1 to wolves, they have a pattern of needlessly losing to bottom of the table teams, that's what seperates this current seasons spurs to the top 4 teams. Are the players underestimating the lower table teams or just plain unlucky? I don't know, but it is a very ugly pattern emerging.

Until we get rid of feeling a pressure to win something we'll always fail. As a Spurs fan it's obviously frustrating we haven't won things, but looking for a quick solution isn't the answer. We need a long term plan and to find the pieces that fit and simply be patient. Build for sustainability and not look for immediate success. Ange has brought the culture of entertaining attacking football back to Spurs and you can see how players with certain skill sets can improve his playstyle further. VDV has shown that and I wouldn't say Maddison is anywhere close to being world class, but he's shown the style of player needed for that role...even he can be improved on though!!! Ange has a track record of identifying very talented players that are available at bargain prices and then through his playing style and coaching increases their out put and value. He can also work with existing players at a club and improve their performance and increase their value - Ange does this everywhere he coaches e.g. Kyogo, Hatate ,Mieda, Oreilly, Abada, Juranovic, Van der Men, Vicario, Udoggie, Madison, Sarr, Bissouma

The future is really clear: Levy didn't spend almost a decade building this stadium for the purpose of 20 homes games a year. It's an insane cash cow - he wants 30 homes matches a year (plus 30 major secondary events, council permission now pending). You only do that by going deep in the (3) cup comps. Next stage is a full City-sized 25-adult squad, with under 21s pushing them. Goodness knows Levy has been shaving adult numbers off his squads for 1/4 of a century. Now, though, with the stadium heaving and the fan base buzzing, is the moment.

From the beginning Postecoglou had a long term plan. He was criticised for playing the subs (mostly) for the Fulham game that they lost on penalties, but given that he had such a disrupted preseason that was the only chance to assess in a serious game who would stay and who would go. And he made the right decisions. Also, the game that Spurs lost against Chelsea shows his long term vision, playing with 9 they didn't go back and defended but kept playing exactly the same, and they could even have drawn the game. He is playing several players who wouldn't get a chance with previous managers, young, skilful, attacking minded, and brought in people who fit the same mould. Enjoy it!

Turned 50 last year. Tottenham born and bred..poor me. 🤣 I often wonder if we’ll ever win a title in my lifetime. Not holding my breath, but as most fans would realistically hope for, I’d be over the moon just to see us win silverware more regularly and be a great team to watch. My biggest disappointment was not losing the CL final, but not progressing thereafter. An interesting discussion, but ultimately we just have to see how ambitious we really are, and for that to happen, we need to spend like never before. And that’s up to the owners. Is Ange the man to then get the best out of a deeply talented squad? 🤷‍♂️

In fairness, a lot of Tottenham fans who watch the team regularly could see that Hojbjerg and Skipp were far off the quality in the middle of the park that rivals had. Sarr clearly had a lot of potential but was so young, so it's not clear how much Ange has developed him vs. a natural progression of a top U21 player globally. Bissouma hasn't really improved on his Brighton performances. Udogie came straight in and is elite. Ange cannot surely be credited with this: could see from his Udinese (??) games that he had some incredible qualities. Son was developed in a big way by Mourinho. As was Kane who was given the freedom to roam a bit like he did at youth level. Romero and Porro have certainly improved under Ange, though.

The rest of your analysis is where the value is, i.e., comparing him with with his predecessors in terms of football ethos, man management, recruitment and progress on the pitch and off it.

Whereas Tottenham had been consistently stable for quite a long time before Ange took over. On the podcasts, not much. Once every so often you will have a midtable club that is mentioned, particularly when a new manager arrives. The Athletic itself has several articles on clubs outside the big six, however, as you say, you need a paid subscription. Honestly, I tried it for a year and while some of the in-depth analysis of games is top-notch, I didn't really feel it value-for-money. That and most of the Athletic's podcasts are available for free in Spotify or Google Podcasts, so you don't even need to pay for their flagship content.

The uneducated have no idea about the context of his achievements at Celtic. They finished 25 points behind Rangers the previous season & Ange was a last minute appointment due to first choice Eddie Howe pulling out shortly before kick off.. Cleaned them out & turned them around completely in that first season. won the title plus another trophy. Next season the treble. Historically his teams perform vastly better in the second season. Expect no different at Spurs.

@@michaelriley828The fact remains is that Celtic won it 9 times in a row before that one season and his appointment. The chances are that anyone else would have won it again after that one poor season. Celtic won 11 league titles out of last 12 ffs. With 4 different managers, and neither of them is considered a top class manager. For comparison, Neil Lennon has won it 5 times in 9 seasons and he is currently without a job. That's how 'hard' it is to win it with Celtic/Rangers in Scotland. Hell, even Steven Gerrard managed to win it.
