Is Speed Painting Overrated for Beginners?

The Slapchop painting technique was huge in 2022 and I never got around to trying it as I was so new to the hobby.
With a bunch more experience under my belt and a lot of frustration painting around my hand tremors, which give me really shaky hands, I decided to give it a go and see if it would help me.
Although it won’t be the technique I always use, it’s definitely added to my techniques as one of the most valuable for painting troops.

I've got some good advice for your hand tremors. I have been able to find support gloves that are used for people who sew and type have helped me demonstratbly. These are generally inexpensive they can be found in most larger stores. I bought my pair here in the states for about $15 which would be 12 1/2 quid. And I myself don't have Tremors but I've noticed that wearing wearing the gloves help keep my hands even steadier than normal. Just a thought oh, good luck and let me know how it works for you.

Thanks for the tip! Never heard of these so I've just done a quick search, it looks like there are sewing gloves which are "compression gloves" or "quilted gloves" - I assume it's compression gloves you're using?

Yes sir that's correct they are compression gloves. They're relatively inexpensive and they really do help a lot you'll be surprised how much comfortable it is to try to paint wearing those. I'm glad I was able to help it's the least I can do to help out a fellow gamer and painter. And I just wanted to mention I've been a follower of your podcast almost since the day that you put out your very first one about your Tau.

Thanks! I was actually so impressed with the quality given it was also the fastest I've ever painted troops - I was convinced going in Slapchop was just a phase everyone went through, but it's really an awesome technique.

I appreciate that either the DMs! The Tau army’s pretty much there in that everything’s got minimum 3 colours - so no grey any more! But I’d also like to give everything a base and some extra attention.

@@TinBearStudios Cant go wrong with even adding small details to make the models stand out, even on the troops. If you ever decide to add the Farsight model to your collection, I'd love to paint it for you btw. I know you like painting your own stuff but I thought I'd offer anyways.
