✅ What's the five-second rule? If you pick up food dropped on the floor within five seconds, you can still eat that food. If it takes you longer than five seconds, you should throw the food away.
✅Is there any truth in the five second rule? Like most things, there's both truth and false information about the hygiene myth. In the video, I try to explain some basic factors that determine how contaminated the food will get.
✅Is it safe to eat food that's been dropped on the floor? No, it won't be 100% safe, so be careful especially if you're young, old, pregnant, or immunocompromised.

Yes, 5-second rule! Many years ago, at a missionary house that housed about 25 missionaries at an old coal mining town...I dropped a piping hot roll on the floor. I picked it up quick and dropped it into the bread basket. The kitchen leader was speechless because the floor was very dirty and you couldn't tell which roll dropped. Food supplies were very tight for feeding this hungry work crew. "God made dirt and dirt don't hurt so eat it and be thankful," I said. Someone followed up with "well, you eat about peck of dirt in your lifetime." So the food was blessed and we all ate.😂

Hello everyone, I’m new in Canada and I’m trying to study something related to food science because I have a bachelor’s in food science engineering, But I’m still confused and I have no idea about what am I going to study, If anyone can help through this, I’ll be great

I know the US better than Canada but the university in Guelph has a really good reputation! Alejandro Marangoni is probably the most well-known prof there

Mmmm does glass can affect food? Means candies which are stored or which comes in contact with glass jars also become contaminated with germs? 🤔. Mostly in storage houses or malls where food is stored on shelves does packaging prevents the spread of germs?

I would say if the candies originally come in a glass container, the packaging is sterilised before the candy is added! One of the BIG functions of any type of package is can it protect food not just from microorganisms but also rodents, pests, light, and temperature :)
