I have gone through so many chargers, I hate it. I prefer the tried and true drop in charger.

Since the BTECH GMRS V2 is simply a Baofeng UV-82 that has been made FCC Part 95 GMRS compliant/certified, any/all of the battery options for the UV-82 also work for the GMRS V2. Which means you can get batteries for the radio that are usb rechargeable.

Btech says the new gmrs v2 is all new build inside they had built, only the case molds came from Baofeng. They say it is optimized for gmrs freqs, not just new firmware.

@@Littrell1966, Which means any/all of the battery options for the UV-82 also work for the GMRS V2...which means you can get batteries for the radio that are usb rechargable.

Great review. I’ve been using the V2 for a few weeks now. I’m constantly impressed. I do think it’s the best ht for beginners at this price point.

There are no GMRS repeaters here in Canada. In fact, 5 watts is illegal here. But I'm ordering the radio. Let's have some fun. I hope the radio arrives next week.

That is nice of Lawrence to come up and visit with you. Nice little radio for $50. How would the radio do with a longer 27" antenna? I noticed that the factory antenna on my Baofeng doesn't like the inside of the Jeep, but changing it out the long one works great.

Great vids! What is the difference between the V1 and the V2? Got the V1 as a gift and put it away as i just got my fcc permission slip, trying to program crown king repeter. Y'all have a blessed Christmas!

Can you tell me how to cut the weather off every time that you scan the channels I read the owners manual but just cannot figure it out

Go to the channel you want to skip. Using the keypad; Menu option 41, SC-ADD select to off. You will have to set that for each channel you wish to skip.

This radio looks identical to my Baofeng UV82. And by the sounds of things, it is just a renamed UV82. CHIRP programmable.

Your assessment is probably spot on. Most Part 95 certified radios are exactly that - a reprogrammed Ham or Part 90 radio to meet the requirements set forth in the FCC's regulations for GMRS radios. The nice thing is, all those accessories for said radios will work with these radios, giving you more access to things like batteries and like.

Question: how can I scan GMRS channels WITHOUT the NOAA alwyas interfering 🤦🏽‍♂️

If you program it using chirp, uncheck mark the scan for the NOAA channels.

Oddly, only the supplied 1800 mAh battery has the USB-C charging port. If you purchase additional 1800 mAh batteries there's no USB-C charging port on them.

Yeah, shot an application video for a corporate job, plus I hadn’t shaved in about 15 years, so I was interested in seeing who was hiding under there.
