The 3 generations of Backwards Compatibility for Xbox One is the best thing to happen this generation.

I remember before having the internet, a friend and I played DOOM by just connecting computer to computer directly, through the phone line, and feeling like it was some sort of magic. It was a pain cause it would take an hour to time it right for us both to connect because we couldnt communicate (because we were using the phone line with the computer and this was the pre-cell phone and pre-internet era), and then once we did connect we'd play a while and then get booted when someone called either of our houses which interrupted our gaming through the phone line, so we tried to play so late that nobody would be calling. It was still amazing though. Nobody else we knew could do that back before the internet was available and mutiplayer games were mostly limited to local play for all we knew.

I'd bet there will be an N64 Classic eventually. Zelda, Mario, Starcraft, Goldeneye or Perfect Dark, Wrestlemaina 2000, Crusin World, etc. Sony just really messed up with their PS1 classic by their game choices and not using the dual shock controller. I'd very much like to see a Sega Saturn Classic with the old Working Designs games, Albert Odyssey, Iron Storm, and other good games like Shining Force 3.

I don't think pushing Darksiders would have made much of a difference. Early 2019 is pretty packed with RE2 remake, Kingdom Hearts 3, Anthem, Metro, DMC 5, Sekiro, Days Gone and Crackdown all out in the first few months.

So that's what Dwango was. I hadn't heard of the PC Mini, but since looking it up it's another nostalgia box - but since I'm nostalgic for these games I'm all in! My first significant online experience was probably Resistance 2 and its co-op - that was so good, and the multiplayer wasn't bad either. I recently restarted No Man's Sky and I haven't found it to be greatly improved, it's basically the same game with a few more bells & whistles.

Shadow Ops on Xbox Live was my first online game. The sound effects are still better than many FPS games today too.

Warcraft 2 was technically my first online game, but Return To Castle Wolfenstein on the OG Xbox was when I really got into online gaming.

I looked up some pilot wings 64 gameplay and it really doesn't look all that bad considering the competition. The soundtrack was tight.

Even though I played games online before Halo 2 I still believe that I will never again have the feelings of pure enjoyment in gaming that I had playing Halo 2 online. I made virtual and IRL friends from that game. The post game stats screen trash talking between players was great and never got too toxic. I remember some post game trash talking turning into me and another player challenging each other to a one on one battle on Lockout. Definitely, one of the only games where I cared about getting to the highest level in online rankings. It actually felt like when you got to 50 in Rumble or Team Slayer that you were an elite player because of how difficult it was.

Daemon talked about a great "comeback" from "no man's Sky" and logged on to steam to see how the player base is. In August of that year the game averaged 83,156 online In the last thirty days it dropped to 8,569. Does not seem like a good turn for me but still the game can stay alive due to the updates..

I wouldn't say the craze is over but we've definitely hit a couple bumps in the road that's going to slow things down a bit. And the height of the craze may have actually already passed and everything going forward is just chasing after that first pink unicorn.

Oh man! My memory of online gaming has to be on the original Xbox with Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory; those spies vs mercs game mode was intense. I remember my mind exploding when I realized there were other people playing simultaneously. I have to thank my friend Javi for convincing my mother to put her credit card on the account lol. From there it was Halo 2, of course! Great times and how times flies. I am 28 now, and I spend my time playing Overwatch now. Hopefully the next Halo draws me back in

4:23 That's a weird criticism Justin, Nintendo's not really far ahead of Sony in accessibility to their old libraries outside of classic consoles since there's not many classic games on Switch yet (definitely not more than there are PS2 games on PS4) and there is a comparable amount of old games accessible on PS3/Vita as there is on the virtual consoles of Wii U etc.

Um, the Castlevania Lords of Shadow games are backwards compatible on Xbox one as well (which includes mirror of fate), though the first Lords of Shadow game isn't available digitally for some reason.

Totally agree with Justin on the noone talking in modern online games. Ive been playing WoW from the start (even got to be the first to down Nefarian on our server with my guild) back before BC. I still have friends from that time, that I visit and that visit me, even across borders. Several times now I wanted that feeling of awe that I had when I started WoW back then and now its simply grinding through dungeons that u get sorted into by a matchmaker until youre max level. To me that is very sad and pretty much makes the whole thing an almost boring experience.

I would think that for their handhelds, Nintendo wouldn’t make a “mini” version of the Gameboy. It would be cool to have some sort of “mega” version. Just give me a Switch-sized Gameboy with at least Pokémon Yellow, Tetris, and Link’s Awakening.

QUALITY Mini Consoles (Nintendo) will still continue to sell. Shotty products like the PlayStation Classic and the AT Games systems are what people are over.

How did you guys not name Castlevania 4? Which IS a remake of part 1. I recommend Castlevania 3, Castlevania 4, Rondo of Blood, and SOTN. That's literally it. Every other GREAT Castlevania are 7s and 8s while the ones I've named are 10s.

IMO the orange “discussing now” tab in the lower thirds can be quite distracting. Since it’s one of the brightest colours in the shot I find my eye constantly darts across the screen to look at it, this can make it difficult to focus on the hosts. These competing elements (the hosts and the orange tab) can create a slightly uncomfortable viewing experience. Perhaps making the tab slightly smaller or changing the colour to something that won’t pop off the blue background so much could work...? Not sure. Anyways, not a big deal, love the show :D Cheers

Why a "Gameboy mini" when they can just do it on the Switch?

I would totally buy an original Xbox mini console, as long as it supports split screen and comes with at least 2-4 of the giant original controllers

I’d rather have remakes of early 3D games than get mini consoles. Give me complete remakes of Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time on the level of the Shadow of the Colossus remake and I will buy them day one.

I heard about that pc classic and instantly thought about how they ripped off Tina.

Hearing that Darksiders 3 really strays away from the Zelda formula is kind of what turned me off of the game. I would definitely miss the puzzles and dungeons.

I WILL play Darksiders 3 just low on cash and waiting for smash and RE2 right now, when it's 30-40$ I'm happy buying it when I can, I hope my measly 30-40$ is enough to get another one down the road and I hope others are in my mindset

Halo 2 had a crap ton of griefing lol. Stand-bys, DDOS, bridging for host, trolls, etc. galore. Great times though, but once you hit the 30's in rank, you can rarely find a fair match without cheaters.

Sony ruined the hype.... The NES and SNES have been out for ages and you can find one anywhere these days with 0 effort. The N64 and Dreamcast and Sega branded (not AT games) Genesis upcoming hopeful announcements will revive the hype for sure.
