I think the PS5 system design is great! Yes it's a larger system but it looks so cool and futuristic to me. As a side note most games so far have been running better on PS5 over Xbox Series X. I do think Xbox games will eventually run at parity or better on Xbox but I don't think the difference will be that great between the 2 and the DualSense is just so awesome that I feel like I would be missing out if a multiplatform took advantage of that on PS.

Funny I went full digital last gen (seems crazy saying that about PS4 Xbox one lol) got over a thousand games on PS and a few les on Xbox I have found that it worked out much cheaper for games more than half mine were got in PS sales as I have found there sales to much better than Xbox and games come cheaper The others were pre orders while I paid more there I got the ultimate special editions of games to round out the cost But can anyone tell me why PS has much better prices for games than MS even games I just got for easy plats are £10 more expensive on Xbox

There are no checkpoints in souls games because it would ruin the cost/benefit analysis of whether to press on or return to safety when you have amassed a large amount of souls. Since you drop them where you die, pressing on poses the risk of not being able to make it back to where you died to retrieve them, losing them forever. You could be so close to unlocking a shortcut and turn back with your souls and level up, but you then have to make your way back past all the enemies who have respawned. But hopefully you learned how to defeat them better each time! The terror of entering uncharted terrain in a souls game, especially with many levels worth of souls, is a feeling no other games have ever given me.

i'd agree the ps5 design choices are some of the worst i've ever seen. Hate how it has no Flat surface, so i cant even rest a controller on the console while it's laying down horiontal without it sliding off. i really hate the design, thermals are bad too.

I am very weird when it comes to Zelda games. I have never beat a game because I stop myself from finishing. In some strange head's pace of mine finishing it feels wrong and that the enjoyment I got playing all the games would somehow be gone forever if I do. This only happens with Zelda games for some reason. Weirdo yes I know.

Not sure I fully understand Daemon's take on Souls games. Daemon, the rogue-like master, is complaining about enemies respawning? He wants more checkpoints? Where is this coming from? You love Spelunky and that game is way more difficult and hardcore! If Demon's Souls didn't quite do it for you, hear me out: try Dark Souls III before you write the genre off entirely. You enjoy the deliberate combat and the gothic setting right? DS3 brings this in spades. It runs beautifully on PS5 (60 frames) and has more modern sensibilities in design as FromSoftware iterated on the series with each entry. It's not about overcoming "difficulty" as much as it is learning the mechanics and systems of the game and executing. Patience is required but the rewarding feeling of success is unrivaled. Try DS3, I implore you. I love this podcast and feel like you guys give Souls games the short shrift all the time so having someone actually play one would be great.

I'm confused. Why is Daemon fine with rogue-like games like Hades and not fine with the structure of Dark Souls? I stay away from rogue games because I don't want to waste my time going through the same sections over and over again. At least, in the Souls games, you have checkpoints in the form of archstones/fires.

I feel Daemon’s pain. Wives just aren’t impressed with gigantic white consoles in their carefully decorated living room.

Brick and mortar game stores should evolve and start buying both hard copies and digital redeem codes so that they can future proof themselves and offer some healthy competition while reducing the risk of a digital store monopoly.

If I was Microsoft, I'd talk to Sony about getting some of their exclusives maybe 6 months later as a deal to get Bethesda games over to Sony's console. But Sony won't agree unless Xbox clearly starts winning this console generation. If the same thing happens like last generation, Microsoft may have NO CHOICE but to put Bethesda games on the Playstation just to sell a lot more units to make the Bethesda studio not bleed money. It's going to be interesting.
