**Correction: We screwed up the ordering on price and models in this video. Apologies for that...
The Stone retails for $8999
The Special is $9490
The Centinario is $9190
In 2021, Moto Guzzi joined some rarified names on the century-age list such as Royal Enfield, Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle. To make it 100 years in anything is remarkable. To make it to 100 years as a motorcycle manufacturer even more so.
To celebrate, Moto Guzzi has created the fourth iteration of the classic V7 roadster. There’s three models on offer-the base model Stone with matte black paint, six-spoke aluminum wheels, digital speedo and LED lighting for $8999.
The second is my personal favorite-the Centenario V7 Stone resplendent with gorgeous 500cc V8 Grand Prix-inspired green and silver paint with a brown seat for $9110. And finally the premium V7 Special with spoked wheels, a brown swingarm, dual analog clocks, and machined cylinder head fins for $9490. All bikes come with switchable traction control and ABS.
The 2021 V7’s are part of the fourth iteration of the machine that was relaunched back in 2008. You could argue Moto Guzzi has more genuine skin in the retro game than most, and has the ability to dip into its own back catalog to come up with modern interpretations rather than design modern bikes from scratch with classic tones.

It's also worth mentioning that they are very simple to service yourself, which makes ownership inexpensive and more fun. They go forever. You have to own one to get it. Great review, hit the nail on the head.

Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle

Guzzi’ s are wonderful motorcycles to own and ride places on and to work on. The MG owner community is great. This is not a “spec” sensitive experience. There are specs to read and bikes to ride. Moto Guzzi is very satisfying to ride, work on and own. They age beautifully.

A couple of days ago, I looked at a blue one. The guy wouldn't let me sit on it until I stopped drooling!! If I bought it, I would need a white helmet, as my red & black one just wouldn't be right! The brown seat is nice, but I'm more accustomed to a regular black cover. I heard that it's actually a real leather seat cover though. That's pretty special.

This sold me on a Guzzi. I've ridden Harleys before but having no dealer closeby and now having a kid it became a pain so I'm after a modern classic and I happen to have a Guzzi dealer 10 min away. I hope to be a owner of a beautiful v7 this spring 😀 riding for me is all about the stressrelief and riding something with soul and character

Yeah, the traction control (MGCT) is not obtrusive on a Guzzi. You will rarely if ever see it light up except on Pirelli. But is is not about straight line wheelie prevention, it will kick in if you yump or skitter on a bend. And the bike is so confident you may take bends quicker than you think. The brakes are rather more than adequate. The unit up front is no ordinary caliper but an asymmetric 4-pot Brembo, the equal of twin discs. It is progressive and will feather but the trick to stopping fast is to apply both brakes hard initially and ease off as speed reduces, not grab it up tight when you have run out of road. The ABS will not let it lock.

Thanks, great little review with extra titbits! A much underrated (and understated) bike & marque. Had many Guzzis over the years and pleased with all of them. Ideally, I’d like a centre stand as standard but that’s it. It’s really just a newer version of their classic T3.

The 850 finally has enough starting HP that I think will open the door to the brand for a lot of people who previously rode the 50ish HP version and just felt "meh" about it. The thing about the 850 engine is not only does it make more power, it makes higher power later, and is much more rev happy than the previous 750, so in a straight line it's quite a bit faster. One of these days I'm going to get my hands on one, and I think with a proper 2-1 exhaust, opened up airbox/filter setup with velocity stacks, some light head porting coupled with decking the cylinder .020" to tighten up the squish would put this bike right around 65ish RWHP, which would be a fun little knock around bike.

LED are bright but to be honest I've not found one with a beam shape that provides good illumination of a dark road at night. The Stone has the LED lamp, the Special appears to be H4 Halogen, stick a super-bright H4 in there and they're perfect.

Initially I was attracted to the Special, but having had a Ducati GT1000 with spoke wheels I remembered what a chore washing and detailing them is. I also didn't want to go back to tubed tires. The Stone's blacked out and matte finish make washing a breeze, and the rubber fork gaiters remind me of the '68 Yamaha 125 scrambler I had as a kid.

@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 3 жыл бұрын
Very reliable, there is little to go wrong. Changing the clutch is not a thing, a clutch only wears when it is slipping, and that's a big car-like dry clutch in there. Nobody would accuse Guzzi of having the world's lightest clutch. The trick is to keep the actuating arm clean and lubricated despite the back wheel throwing muck at it.

@@dimi_tree I am pretty sure not every Italian dialect pronounces the "zz" the same. And, if one wants to get really picky, not all the other vowels and consonants in Moto Guzzi are the same in Italian and English. And maybe we should then worry about using the appropriate Italian hand and facial gestures. And being sure that we are drinking the right kind of grappa when saying Moto Guzzi.....!

@jeffslade1892
@jeffslade1892 3 жыл бұрын
No bike that can easily go ton-up should be considered small. Rule of thumb, any bike with 48hp will go ton-up easily. Another rule of thumb, any ton-up bike is not for beginners; they always go too fast and misjudge braking distance. Top speed of the 850 is given as (cof) 110mph but top speed of the less powerful V7ii is over 120mph. The 850 has gained a lot of weight, its power to weight is not much greater than the 48hp V7ii, and it has lost the bottom end grunt below 3000rpm. (the V7 III gained weight too, gained 4hp but lost bottom and top end, thus reducing its performance; on paper the V7 III has better power to weight than the 850 but in practice is slower and less nimble than the V7ii). Whilst it's no crotch rocket, the actual performance of the V7ii is very similar to a Honda GL1800 which is no slouch, with a nod to the Guzzi for taking bends quicker. There's no doubt the new V7 850 will accelerate more quickly but having more horses is not the whole story. On the V7ii the power band is from around 2000rpm to about 7400rpm, ridiculous. For a given stretch of road you can stick it in the appropriate gear for the general speed you're doing, and not have to change gear, even through twisties. A very relaxing ride. Having said that, there's not much between the models. Someone who has never ridden the previous modern V7 models will probably not notice the little differences.
