SDAlexander I’m also a huge fan of the plaid seats. In Europe they have a GTE (electric), it’s basically a performance PHEV based on the GTI. Has the same plaid seats but are blue instead of Red. If you google VW GTE interior you’ll see it. Wish we could get that here in the US.

Fly2kill1 correct it is the golf r motor I have this vehicle it is only detuned on paper to not upstage the golf r which also have owned the only difference it’s carrying 400 lbs in weight

I believe it would improve the quality of these videos to include a nighttime visual segment for interior and exterior lighting(Headlights feel safe?) Interior Features? - How do the brakes/turns look at night?). A lot of Ford, chevy and new VW cars have interior lights that look amazing that people don't know about when buying them it blows my mind! Thanks!

I had a CC for about 3 years. I had no issues. No reliability problems of any sort. VW's are very reliable.

@@ksorsomeplace That hasn't been my experience. And if you only had the car for three years, that isn't a long time, especially if it was the car's first three years. Was it a lease on a new CC? My VW was fine for the first three years, for the most part, but not long after that, I started having quite a lot of problems and wound up having to sell it because I couldn't afford the repairs. Volkswagen's historical reliability record is not very strong. Especially with the models made in Mexico. But I do really like their cars.

@@JJ-ls7fq Yes, it was a lease. All I did was the regular maintenance. The car performed really well in my estimation. I took it in for two recalls: the airbag (I don't ding VW for that) and some recall around the fuel pump, but that was minor and took no time whatsoever to get done at the dealer. It may not be too long, but I had Ford Mustang that had problems that left me stranded in that time. A battery went dead and a fuel sensor/switch went bad. In a new car less than a year old that was not expected. I've had VW's built in the U.S. and Germany and those have all been good.

Robert Bryant the 3.6 vr6 is a lot heaver versus the 2.0 and would effect the handling my arteon suspension set a sport ++ will hang in backroads with my former golf r no problem

@@edwardkondek2548 yes, I know it would weight more, but I believe the suspension can be set/tuned largely mitigate that. I'm just thinking it would make the car more upscale and be a choice for those who like the different character of the V6.

I seldom use the sunroof anyways, so I always try to get the options I want and not the ones the dealer wants me to buy but that's not easy because of how they package the options. The massive panoramic hole on the roof should always be a standalone option.

Thank you for the excellent reviews, your channel is constantly improving. Did buy a VW Tiguan SE 4MOTION last week instead of a Jeep later. For only $27K after a $4K discount amazing value (Combo of $3/hr Mexico labor cost and devalued peso). Arteon isn’t doing too bad either with German Robotics and the Euro devalued 10% compared to 5 years ago.

@@JcksnACC It looks different than an Audi. I would say the design, while clean, has more emotion to it than an Audi.

@@JcksnACC You are right - I did not realize how cheap the starting prices for A4 are. In that case, it is really a wash, whether you want more power or luxury badge. I would have chosen the Arteon between the two, but then again, I only buy manual cars for myself, so none of these fit me. I was considering the A4, but they pulled the plug on fun cars, so no Audi for me.

Same design (with very minor differences, hard to pick out even), so I don't believe we got a watered down version. VW felt American drivers and potential buyers of this car wanted an automatic that felt like a traditional automatic. I, too, believe they should have went with the DSG. But, again, why do manufacturers refuse to allow any options? The prices are high enough.

@@ksorsomeplace The European version is sleeker, the rear lights are different and the car sits lower. I do not like the American version. Same with the Passat, the euro version looks way better.

@@ksorsomeplace Our last true sedan was an Audi V8 1990, and a 1994 sports sedan Subaru SVX, and its been mostly SUVs since then. I'm an AWD enthusiast, I like the added ground clearance and cargo capacity that SUVs offer. I have a 2016 Mazda CX9 and for my first pickup the 2018 Honda Ridgeline with only 5000 miles that I'm thinking of trading in on SUV. I have taken many test drives, done a lot of D&D and on my shortlist, I have the 2019 Armada because of its 12k + discounts/8500lbs towing capacity, 2019 Chevy Traverse High Country with its 98 cubic ft cargo capacity and GKN Twinster Diff, and Hyundai Palisade/Telluride, these are my top three but its depends on my towing needs. I'm looking to buy before the end of the year, I also looked at the new Ford Explorer ST which I had issues with, Atlas, Durango, and Pilot which are all still on my list. Atlas, Pilot, and Traverse have proactive AWD systems, It depends on my towing needs the Hyundai Palisade/Telluride/Durango have an open Diff brake vectoring AWD systems that are cheap but better than nothing. The Palisade/Telluride do have self-leveling rear shocks. I just need to figure out what our needs will be for the next few years.

One car that is really overpriced is the Lincoln Continental, among others. This is not too bad, but probably a bit on the high side.

Nothing wrong with a Passat...especially for the money. It doesn't cost the manufacturer much more to build an Audi, but you pay a lot more.

@@ksorsomeplace But it is MILES away from luxury especially the US Passat. I wouldn´t even call the EU Passat luxury. It´s FWD, 4 cyl. only, no definitely not luxury.

@@Nismo3 Look how many German cars now have 4 bangers as standard. Yet, many classify the 3 series BMW and the C-class Mercedes as luxury cars. The Arteon is not really that far away. What qualifies as luxury? To me, luxury is being able to get a car with a V8 that is naturally aspirated that is quality and offers some choice. But, that hardly exists today.
