This video takes a look at Omega's new Seamaster 300 Bronze Gold, and asks if this should really be treated as a bronze watch or if it really is functionally akin to a gold watch.
Watch photos are from respective manufacturers' materials and employed under Fair Use.

Omega lists this as a Bronze Gold and not just bronze. I noticed it more in the metal more than just photos, it has much to offer with its own esthetic and Omega ties it vert well with the dial, strap and the unique bronze gold watch. I really was taken by it when I got a call from the same AD that secured my BB58 925 sterling, to check out the BB58 18K yellow. I went with the Omega Bronze gold. It also has a little platinum and palladium for hardening and also luster. I love wearing it and it’s definitely one to try in the metal

I would argue that the bronze and gold mix makes the colour very refreshing and classy.

I do like the color. Reminds me a bit of rose gold but more yellow than that.

Good point about the durability. I've not owned a gold watch but I've seen others complain about dealing with the soft metal and this would hold up better.

Dennis thank you for the video content. I love this watch. But my fear is that the color will tarnish. I bought a Tudor BB bronze a few years ago. However in the 1.5 year span I was with the watch I polish it numerous times because I liked it shinny. So I discover I am not a bronze watch fan. However I am waiting for this watch to hit a few years old to see if the material changes. This watch is available on the mid $8k range on the secondary market. I will buy it right now if I can be certainly it won’t change the color. Is a classy beauty.

Yes, I am curious if there is enough gold to stabilize the look (like we see in high-level gold alloys, namely 18k favored in watch cases) or if this tarnishes. In theory if it can tarnish someone could accelerate the process like those who deliberately age bronze but I have not seen someone try it out. I personally do not know anyone who owns this watch.

Standing ovation from me - wish I could put more than one like! Exactly what I was thinking as well, but unlike my case, actually articulated perfectly with every point where it belongs. I think it’s also first time I see opinion like this (and I completely agree, so it’s even more welcome!). Thank you

I'm one of those who likes shiny Bronze. Yes I would clean it regularly. The Omega is a beautiful watch. A little too expensive for me, but less than a Rolex.

I have heard they clean easy but never have tried since I enjoy the patina (I have one bronze watch).

Omega says it will patina, but it won’t turn green, it will get pinker (more everose gold tone than Sedna gold tone). It won’t be as uniform as a satin finish everose-like gold, so it will be like a bronze watch, just less pronounced and towards a pink color. They should have a bronze gold sample with patina in boutiques to explain that to potential clients. I expect it may not sell easily without that.

Interesting, thanks for those details! I know I would be nervous at the price-point without a good sense as to the ultimate final appearance.

@@WatcheswithDennis it’s an acquired taste. With that much gold the effect should be less than on other bronze pieces. Omega should send an aged sample to its boutiques so customers can see what they’re getting themselves into.

I think it's a good idea. It's a nice change from rose and yellow. And I think it grabs gold lovers to try something new. I think if you're a original bronze watch fan it does go against the grain but I don't think there is anything wrong with that. You said why not choose gold then or just go for steel? I think the look of the original colour without it oxidizing is s big plus. I'm going to be buying but not for a while due to the price point

You raise some good points. As I noted I like how the watch itself looks; as I think about it perhaps they merely are shooting for describing the color as "bronze gold" versus trying to imply it functionally behaves like bronze. I'm still unclear just how much this will change via patina. I want to see some after, say, a year to see if that holds up. I'm assuming, from Omega's statement, that it should be pretty similar to how it looks new.

Their gold watches are 18 karat and it would be over 20 thousand for the piece. If they made it 10 karat it would have been Rose Gold but very durable. Their competing with Rolex. Rolex only uses 18 karat. It’s marketing! I agree with the Bronze. Very durable water resistant but so is brass. The watch is stunning. Needs a black rubber band with a deploying clasp.
