I've been a Leaf fan since the late 70s . The only time this organization has had any stability at managenent level was during the Fletcher years.

There is no dysfunction. They have a great team and Dubas is on the right track until Shanahan nixed him. But Dubas will win with other teams.

Really simple: If you watched players like Wendel, Mats, Daryl, Lanny, Gary, and Douig you would know that Auston, willie, Mitch (to a lesser extent) and Johnny do NOT compare with the former leaf group in terms of level of compete, willingness to go to the ends of the earth to get a goal, to get hit and to fight if necessary. That's it, no other comments or evaluations are necessary!

I understand what you mean but I think no - as time goes by, I'm pretty sure Dubas or his agent had intel that he was going to be the guy both president and GM in Pittsburgh . That is why he went completely off script at the press conference . It looks like he wanted to play the poor me family card - while saying I wouldn't go anywhere else . Nobody asked him either of those questions - they really didn't belong - I think it was a set up - at least he knew he had Pittsburgh in the hole if he couldn't get everything he wanted - ( which he had to know he had no chance at ) pretty eddie haskell of him .

@@jonfreeman9682 He didn't win with four, arguably five, of the best players in the game. If he goes to Pittsburgh he'll have an aging Crosby, an aging Malkin and an aging Letang (who has already had two strokes, bless him), no goaltending in a market that can't survive financially without deep playoff runs, and not much else. Hextall and Co. left the cupboard bare. If he 'wins' it might be next decade....might.

Dubas was playing his cards they way he wanted to. He new pit was going to hire him so he went back and asked for more money. It’s ok to be rich, but once you get greedy you lose everything

Well Dubas knew he's got a hot hand and lots of options so demanded more money. He also wanted more control and not be under Shanahan's thumb. Sure he was a rookie when he started but now he wants control and more money.

Everyone’s complaining about Tavares contract but the funny thing is he scored only 5 less points than Matthews, yet everyone’s talking about signing Matthews for upwards of 13 mil. The reality is teams who win do so when they have players outplaying their contracts, which is impossible ir you pay 11 mil, 13 mil. Matthews would need to score like 130 points for it to be worth it. Teams pay their point per game players like 7-9 million or less like Brayden Point , MacKinnon was making less. About 1 mil per 10 points is the value. Matthews potting 60 earned him a fortune cause he’ll be paid based on that, similar to how a player reached 30 goals and you’re set for life with teams paying you for the rest of your career based on one 30 goal year. Reality is Matthews scored same number of goals as Nylander. Personally I’d keep marner and play him at center, don’t get why he’s a winger after he was a star London playing center

Patience is needed? Seriously. This team has had 7 years of patience, with the last 5 being under Dubas, and they have one playoff series win to show for it. This a results-based business. No team can afford to keep running it back with the same group for 7 years and counting, hoping for a different result by relying on patience. You see the Panthers didn't buy into being patient after their President's Trophy winning season last year. The Avs are a prime example of how a team should build themselves up. From last place, to becoming a playoff team, to becoming a contender, and then becoming a champion. And they did all that in 5-year period.

Not everyone wins and its hard to win you see that with different teams not named Leafs look at Carolina they lost like 11 straight in the conference final so its tough. Who said run it back lol I was talking about being patient with the search for a GM and the process, you totally missed what I meant, it can't be rushed and all the moves/decisions that will or will not be made require careful thought and evaluation. LOL That's what I meant by patience you didn't have to go into a rant. Panthers were patient lol last time they made it this far was 1996 wtf are you talking about lol. Leafs were last in the league and have been a playoff team ever since we got Matthews what are you saying lol. Just cuz we haven't won doesn't mean this hasn't been a good team for a long time now who just hasn't found a way to break through yet. Each team has a different journey and there is no oh because that team did it in 5 years we should too lol its different for every team and every player and organization. Each team has their own struggles and adversity they have to overcome and the timeline isn't the same for everyone. Chill out bud.

He spent alot of money no question but it's a Stanley Cup winning team. Problem is Florida goalie caught 🔥 and mowed down Boston Leafs and a clean sweep of hurricanes and they'll beat Vegas in 6. It happens. Their goalie averages 97% saves in playoffs.

They will offer Mattews roughly around a 114 million dollar contract over 8 years. He will turn it down and the Leafs will trade him probley to LA or Anaheim. It won't be Phoenix we know that. Most Likely LA or Anaheim or Vegas can't afford him and Eichel.
