I wouldn't pay to see them dress up two other dudes as Ace and Peter let alone pay to see a computerized version of fake Ace and Peter 😂

What a crazy modern world. There are a lot of things we have to get used to. Guys like us were the live music generation. The kids are going out to dance to dub step and such. For me I still like to listen to people playing instruments. Certainly there is still a niche for that with the local scene. I don't think punk rockers or core metal types or singer/songwriter folks will turn virtual anytime soon, but who knows. Interesting thoughts and questions you raise. All I can do is Rock On! 👍👍

I would pay for a digital concert for a big screen home movie system but not for a concert venue. Now I would pay for a broadway screening at a theatre with a good light system or an IMAX screening.

I saw them on the Dynasty tour in ‘79 when the original lineup was still intact (at least for a few months more until Criss quit) That was the last time I saw them and I prefer to leave it that way.

I think the point of digital avatars, if any, would be to be somewhat responsive and portable. It might be cool to see an Avatar concert at home where I could give feedback and maybe adapt the setlist, but in a venue setting it seems more like a movie than a concert. If it's like a movie it might be better to just watch recordings of old concerts. Other than that tribute bands or just giving space to new artists might be the way to go.

There are some amazing Kiss tribute bands, check out Mr Speed. They are pretty darn good IMO. I like the idea of old videos etc, much better to relive the old and great I think! Thanks for watching!

I was at the show. And after 50 plus kiss shows this crowd was the loudest and most in to the show then another kiss show I've ever seen. So yes the crowd was loud sometimes they where louder then the band. As far of the avatars I don't know what to think of it. If kiss really spent over 200 million $$$ on it its either bust or its going to be huge.

But what if KISS put on a AI concert and nobody came...? Please, KISS. Don't spoil peoples' memories of you in your prime - Go away and don't come back! You damn well should have earned enough money to retire on a long time ago! Just remember: How can we miss you when you won't go away?!

The ABBA avatars actually look like ABBA and the KISS ones look like updated versions of the characters from the Psycho Circus Nightmare Child game from twenty years ago. There's concert footage from the 70's to watch so if they're not going to write new songs the avatars are pointless. Yet another cash grab by Gene and Paul.....

Japan has had anime hologram singers for years and those crowds are large. When people go to a large concert, they are watching the large screens showing the performers in a TV style performance which are sometimes mixed in with effects, animations and recorded video. The performers look like ants from the nose bleeder seats otherwise.

Going to the cinema or music venue to watch a cartoon on the big screen? ONLY if it's new songs they've played live in the studio, in which case I'd rather watch a film of them playing live in the studio.

There were twinkle lights in the crowd that were synched up. If you watch the video... You can see it easy if you look. Paul did sing without back up which is not the correct octave and spoken.

And think about this: bands progress. Their sound, style, playing progress. Look at bands like Judas Priest. Their sound changed over the years. Still heavy, hardcharging, skull-splitting heavy metal. If Priest were to adopt the same mindset, would the hardcore Priest fans accept this? If Priest wanted to preserve their legacy and went this route, who would write new Priest music and progress the Priest style and sound further after Rob and the boys left this mortal coil?
@stevelongmusic880
@stevelongmusic880 8 ай бұрын
Spot on! I doubt Priest fans would ever go for this, and who knows what their plan is with the music. I haven't seen if they are going to write new or just let the avatars perform the old music. I don't think they have written anything new since 2009 (Monster) except for a single released in Japan. Maybe they will embrace AI fully?

They started at around $75 but the last show they started at $300. The PPV was $39. They haven't said yet what they would charge for a show, but they charged for the Abba Voyage show in London starting at 21 pounds up to 200 pounds. So I would bet something like that. The PPV makes more sense, but less money made, and Gene is all about the $$$

Here's a question: Gene and Paul claim that Avatars are to preserve the KISS legacy. The new KISS Era. Fine. Cool. BUT if KISS is to go on forever, that means putting out new music....FOREVER! Who is going to record the new music when Gene, Paul, Eric, Tommy, Ace, Peter, whoever, are long gone to that Rock Stadium In The Sky??

Definitely not the future of all rock, it will never be the same as seeing Kiss in person at their prime. I don't think you can dispute that. But you said it yourself, they're not at their prime any more and when they're dead and gone, what else is there? I actually think the idea is pretty cool. I mean, it's not like Gene can sprout those wings like that in real life!! Would I pay hundreds of pounds to see it? Personally, probably not as I've been fortunate enough to see them multiple times over the years including the 90's reunion show and while I love the songs, the scripted 'banter' and some of the things they do were already getting pretty tired (Paul, waving a huge stars and stripes flag may have gone down great in a country where you pledge allegiance at school and stuff, but here in the UK, that was mighty cringeworthy - learn your target audience!!). But like someone else said who are we to deprive future kids of Kiss if it's possible? And yeah, obviously it's a cash grab. They've never made a secret of that throughout their entire career.

Kiss is a stage act. I don’t think their music will hold up through avatars. Gene and Paul need to get their heads out of the clouds. I’d have more respect if they bowed out gracefully. The money machine cannot be stopped.

I'm painfully oldskool. I believe a band should perform live, in the flesh, throughout their whole career, with as many original members as possible. At some point you won't be able to (or don't want to) keep performing and/or write more songs, and that's when you stop. The band is no more. If you've made a significant impact, you WILL be remembered and loved for many years into the future. All this talk about "immortality" by using avatars (and god knows what other forms of digital trickery) just feels cheap, wrong and completely uninteresting to me. Yes, this is obviously just the opinion of one internet nobody (who isn't even that big of a KISS fan nowadays), but it's a hill I'm prepared to die on. Just embrace that you've had a 50 year long career as one of the biggest rock bands in history and accept that it now has come to an end. The "true magic" was created in the 1970s. Sure, it lasted for quite some time, but don't make today's already watered down experience even worse by dragging that nearly empy husk of bygone greatness into the future wearing cheap digital clothes. Things will never again become what they once were. Enough is enough, and that definitely goes for my rant as well. Thanks to flesh-and-blood KISS for being cool, mysterious and inspirational back when I grew up and started to discover music beyond ABBA. Don't know it it matters to you, but it did matter to me. 🙂

@@stevelongmusic880 Absolutely! New projects would be interesting.There's a limit to how far you can - or should - stretch things. I'm a big Queensrÿche fan, and at this point, with only two guys out of five being original members, they're starting to get dangerously close to that edge, but as long as they're improving with each new release (after 15 years of mediocrity starting in 1997) and stay away from releasing themselves as digital avatars I'm still onboard for the ride. 😄

They have done their part for rock and roll. But it's kinda over. Even if their music lasts forever, the fans will get younger and younger. They won't appreciate this the same way as older generations than me ever will. They are human beings and they will pass to the sands of time. We all want a legacy and they already have it, but I can't see anyone paying to see a virtual KISS show in 10 years from now

I hate this. Karaoke took gigs away from local artists like me. Now Avatars & AI will replace artists. This trend is very concerning. I would respect Kiss more if they passed the make-up down to younger talent & kept the band alive with actual human beings. Anyone who buys a ticket for this monstrousity is an Avatard.

F all that. Real is real and live is live. Give me real people playing real instruments and singing live. If you can’t do that don’t perform live and you’re not a live musician. At least for the rock that I personally like.

I have nothing against AI being used for these kind of ventures, it will let great music and eras live on for future generations, I find it selfish to be against people 300 years from now, not to be able to experience Nirvana or David Bowie the way we got to for instance, if it is full possible.

I’d much prefer a show without them playing a backtrack or AI. I could perform just as well myself with a backtrack 😂😂 The whole point of seeing a show live is watching talented musicians ACTUALLY PERFORM LIVE. Different real performers would be way better. And it’s always okay to just retire, they don’t need to erect some shitty AI band. That’s just capitalism destroying art as far as I’m concerned.
