In this Video I go over how a standard shot is taken and why it is ineffective, how some college wrestlers shoot on their opponent. how to attack like a college wrestler how to shoot a double leg single leg in highschool like a college wrestler. how to take a high crotch shot like a college wrestler.

In highschool we were ranked 4 in state, sent 3 guys and a bunch won regionals. We drilled like a top tier team and our takedown practice was extensive. The best defense in wrestling is a good offense. Like you said in another video you're always pressing forward never retreating back

you gotta make sure you set up a shot, I sometimes struggle with the same thing, if you can set up a shot well, you'll have a significantly better chance at getting that leg. Also, if you look upwards or forward when you shoot, it'll help a lot too.

am a striker workin on my grappling for the past year, i could never get a double, also with me being 6ft3 and lanky made it more mind boggling as to how was i supposed to get into my opponents legs. i could get there with some timing in mma sparring but id just get sprawled on. This tip... man.. to get up dart from my back leg and step hard on the ball of my foot while smashing in their hips made me have some very nice success for a beginner. especially if i mix in my strikes... this way is a game changer.

I want to help him and get involved by asking you two questions, since you have a lot of experience 1. what would be the most important things that make the difference between an average athlete and an outstanding one? 2. what should we focus on in the beginning, more to create a solid base? Thank you very much!

I’m a good shooter, I really am, the issue I have is I’ve never done it at a meet, because as someone who use to relay on Defense, I always thought someone would sprawl. I just won States 18-0, only one match not being a first period pin, and I never shot once. The issue I have is not being comfortable taking the shot, instead I work off the head

Great video. You continue to put out quality stuff. Thanks. I don’t quite see the point of drilling to your knee first and then switching to your foot. Seems like it’d be better to just start drilling the foot. To the knee would appear to reinforce the behavior that you’re trying to correct.
@gangweed6544
@gangweed6544 4 жыл бұрын
The most important part of a shot is level changing and getting a deep penetration step, so that you are close enough to your opponent to get the takedown. If you don't drop to your knee, they can back away from a shot with ease, as you aren't coming up into them with any force. Also, this video is not accurate, and the way he is going in with his arms outstretched, leaning forward is just horrible

Throughout this whole video, you overextended yourself too much with every single shot, anyone who can get their hips back and has a good sprawl would shove your face into the mat if you did that. The best way to shoot is to keep your knee and chest in line, change levels, take a deep penetration step, and drive into your opponent. Also, when you pick your foot up to your butt while shooting, you are opening yourself up for all kinds of attacks such as singles and ankle picks to your other leg. This video is all wrong. I'm not trying to hate, but this is not something you should be teaching wrestlers at any level.

i understand where you're coming from, but this shot is so much faster than a standard shot, IMO its worth it. i have a torn deltoid and sub deltoid so it hurts to bring my elbows in. if anyone starts sprawling before im behind a knee i don't get flattened out because circling is the direct defense to a sprawl. im telling you from experience if you do this right you will be able to get in on the fastest people with a proper set up. if i am over extended its for such a small point the benefits of the speed gained overcome the negatives. obviously if you arent athletic enough to make this faster than a standard shot dont do it. but for most higher level athletes this is big.
