Isiah Thomas (30 points, 20 assists, 4 steals, 14/20 FG) killed the Lakers in Silverdome with his jumpshots, great playmaking and really good defense. LA won the title that year, but they got their heads handed to them by the Pistons in their worst defeat of the 84/85 season.
A crowd of 23,475 and a national television audience saw Isiah Thomas wreck the Lakers, personally accounting for 70 of the 94 points the Pistons scored when he was on the floor.
Riley said Thomas' game was by far the best he had ever played against the Lakers, who picked the same time to play their poorest game of the season.
Pistons won the game 121:98.

I always enjoyed watching Isiah show out on Bird's Celtics, Jordan's Bulls and Magic's Lakers He made it look so easy and effortless. Definitely the best PG of that era. The look on Magic's face at the end of this video is priceless.

Isiah Thomas is my favorite player to ever touch the basketball and he was without a doubt the number 2 point guard of the 80s. He was not better than magic.

Magic was no way more skillful than Isiah. Isiah Thomas was faster, quicker, more athletic, a better defender, actually had a jumper that Magic didn't have and Isiah could go all 94 feet off the dribble breaking guys down. Isiah Thomas was also better playing off the ball and moving without it. Magic Johnson won more titles because he had MVPs (Haywood, Jabbar and McAdoo), scoring champions (Haywood, Jabbar and McAdoo), Rookie of the Year winners (Jabbar, McAdoo, Haywood and Wilkes), top overall picks (Jabbar, Thompson and Worthy) and Final Four MOP winners (Lee, Jabbar and Worthy). That's how loaded the Lakers were his entire career.

Man, Isiah Thomas was so AMAMAZIG. He deserved to be on this dream team. How could Chuck Daily do this to such a champion being furthermore his man for the 2 championships he won? What a betrayal !!!

Isaiah gets accolades but does not get credit he deserves. Like Lebron now has done,Isaiah took a dead NBA franchise and won not one but two chips.Second Greatest point guard of all time.

Isiah was the best PG in the NBA during his run in the late 80's from 87 to 90 he was the best PG better then Magic Johnson himself. Isiah had the ability to take over a game. The Celtics, Lakers and Bulls couldn't stop him. He was smarter and always a step ahead of everybody. To beat Magic, Jordan and Bird you had to be unstoppable. They need to do a documentary on Isiah and his career because no PG in history was able to accomplish what Isiah accomplished. Magic had Kareem and Worthy. Stockton had the Mailman. Isiah had a team full of castaways but they were deep and they had an chip on there shoulder they had an identity and they became the Bad Boys. Zeke was the leader.

@@waelharp4060 if you look at the original 50 Greatest Players, only 2 never played with another member of the group, Patrick Ewing and Isiah Thomas. Thomas won a title, Ewing didn't. Thomas won back to back titles, something the majority of the group never did. Thomas won both a NCAA title and a NBA title, something the majority of the group never did. Thomas also won the Final Four MOP and NBA Finals MVP, something the majority of the group never did.

Amazing, the 80s gaurds initiated the offense inside the 3 point line with creates better and easier shots rather than now where gaurds start the offense 3 feet behind the 3 point line

Love to watch Isiah play, very skilled and even flashy, one of the greatest PG's ever he could flat out ball, killed the Lakers on this one. When Zeke was on it was very hard to stop him. Nice to see Dan Roundfield too even if at the end of his career, he was still showing flashes of what made him the player he was, a terrific defender with good offense in his best days, there should be more footage of him out there, RIP. If you can, please put up Roundfield's personal highlights on this game, as well. Great upload.

But no D. After this season, Daly realized the way to get the team to the upper echelons of the league was to improve defensively without sacrificing much on the fast break. They drafted Joe D and traded for Mahorn in the off-season.
