I know a lot of people felt some type of way about his fights, and this was his chance to show us he could overcome adversity and he did. A couple of things: - Instant rematches for the belt should be reserved for dominant champs. Pereira had no defences (barely any fights for that matter) and lost the fight bad. - Izzy doesn't want the fight. - Pereira needs a long time off after such a brutal KO, while Izzy wants to stay active. - The UFC really wants Pereira to move up a weight class. There've been close calls with his weight cuts. There won't be an instant rematch

@@NiceguyBananne Yeah... and frustrating AF, on a payment per minute scale. His ability to nuke worked against him. He had total faith in himself and didn't cast a suspicious eye over what he was seeing. That's sad, because he's been the golden goose, bringing genuine heart pounding uncertainty and hunger to a tired production, and now is sacrificed to the painfully cliched narrative the organisation wants to sell. 3D chess. So many options you wear yourself out. I think he was too fast for the ref... but it had a corpse abuse look about it, an ugly little moment. I don't think Pereira even knows what it is to play possum. Unfortunately. Stand and deliver type.

There's nobody else other than Alex for Izzy to fight right now though, he's beaten Whittaker and Vetorri twice, and easily beat Cannonier and Costa. Dricus still needs one more big win to justify a title shot in my opinion, and Khamzat needs to prove himself at 185, though I do think he's a stylistic nightmare for either Izzy or Alex.
@bingusenjoyer197
@bingusenjoyer197 Жыл бұрын
i agree bro especially in this circumstance. pereira really needs some more experience with takedown defense and ground work, and he needs to move up to 205 bc he can BARELY make 185 with virtually killing himself. if pereira goes against an actual wrestler with his current experience level he’s going to get destroyed.

It’s so wild, everyone in my life was honestly scared for Izzy. We all love him so much that we were scared, we bet and we hoped and we prayed that he would get it done, but realistically Pereira has 20lbs on him and had won 3 fights in a row. But Izzy dug fucking deep, he was absolutely on the verge of collapse and he DUG a knockout out of that collapse. There’s no question now, you can’t say Izzy isn’t one of the 2 best middleweights of all time. And realistically he’s the 1. As amazing, and I do mean fucking amazing, as Anderson was, the competition is so much stiffer these days. Anderson is not showboating against Poatan, if he does he’s getting KO’d. Anderson is not showboating against Whittaker, he’s getting slept if he does. Anderson is not showboating against Paulo or Kelvin, these are REAL guys. Hats off to Izzy. He really has made the first third of my year with this fight, and more specifically the heart that he showed to turn it around. There’s not an ounce of give-up in that man.
