The Woman slapping the police car in the intro was the Hollywood actress Zsa Zsa Gabor. In 1989 Gabor was driving her $215,000 Rolls-Royce. Beverly Hills Police motorcycle Officer Paul Kramer stopped the actress for driving her car with expired registration tags. While Kramer was checking for other violations, Gabor drove off. When Kramer pulled her over the second time, Gabor slapped the officer. She claimed that she had acted in self-defense when Kramer pulled her out of her car roughly. Kramer insisted that the slap was unprovoked. Gabor was fined $2,350 for slapping Kramer, $352 for driving without a license and $235 for possessing an open container of alcohol--a flask of Jack Daniels.

Soo at the end of the opening title where the police car drives all over... The lady who gets out of her car and slaps the police light was none other than Zsa Zsa Gabor. She was Hungarian-American actress. There was a tv show called "Green Acres" that either she or her sister Eva (maybe both, I'm unsure) starred in. They aren't twins but they look almost exactly alike. Well the relevant part here is in 1989 she got in trouble for slapping a police officer who had pulled her over. So her cameo in this film is making fun of that. And it's actually her in this film, so seems she had a sense of humor about it, I guess. She passed away in 2016 at the age of 99.

Eva Gabor was in Green Acres. Although Zsa Zsa was in some movies, she was better known for her husbands - 9 in all. She quipped 'I'm a good housekeeper - whenever I divorced I always kept the house.

Yeah, I was looking on google, and it seemed like Eva was definitely in Green Acres. But I was trying to figure out which one did the slap, so I searched Zsa Zsa and there seemed to be green acres references in the search results, so I was kinda confused. Thanks for the confirmation! I feel like I remember Zsa Zsa also being the spokeswoman for some perfume maybe and possibly some jewelers? It seems like her doing commercials is something I remember for sure. Other than some appearances on maybe Johnny Carson, I don't think I would have seen her in anything else.

It's a Cookbook! reference is from an episode of the original The Twilight Zone. Aliens had come down to Earth and were friendly, curing diseases and giving humans a look at their own planet and all. “It’s a cookbook“ is reference to a twilight zone episode called “to serve men“. Aliens from Mars have a book that was called “to serve man”. Scientist later discovered that it was a cookbook with recipes that included humans. I believe the guy in the naked gun holding the cookbook is the same guy from twilight zone. He was bought aboard a spaceship and the aliens were trying to fatten him up but he refused to eat.

Yes, ur correct that was the late Lloyd Bochner in both this movie and that original Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man" Coincidentally, Bochner has a son who is also an actor Hart Bochner. Hart had a role in Die Hard as the coke head Ellis.

The lady at the beginning that slapped the police car was "Zsa Zsa Gabor", a celebrity who at the time the movie was made, had just been recently convicted of slapping a cop during a traffic stop. The Gabor sisters where the were a kind C Cardassian before the Cardassians were even a glimmer. "Zsa Zsa Gabor" and her sister "Eva Gabor" were both beautiful and glamorous actress in the 40s, 50s and 60s and played in many movies and series, The sister Eva was the star of a show called "Green Acres" a very popular sitcom from 1965 to 1971. By the 80s and 90s they were a kind of hollywood royalty that were famous for having been famous. They both made a lot cameos and one episodes appearances in the 80s and 90s and made great talk show guest. Zsa Zsa Gabor was born in 1917 and died 2016 Eva Gabor was born in 1919 and died in 1995

This is why I usually don't suggest movies like this without a list of other movies you should watch first. Airplane and Spaceballs are two such movies. They are so much better when you get the references. Hotshots! (1991) was a spoof of Top Gun. The COOKBOOK reference is to an episode of The Twilight Zone: To Serve Man (1962) aliens comes to earth and end wars and disease but the book they carry around is a cookbook on "How To Serve Man." These movies are intense slapstick comedy and seems like they took a number of different short skits and put them together.

If its just a sequence or a scene in the movie I don't think you need to know about it, but if the all main plot of the movie is around a specific movie then yeah. But the think is, we watched Airplaine without any knowledge of the movie it was based on and we loved it! xD

Priscilla Presley’s naked chest in the shower would not stop two men from fighting to the death. Not at that age anyway. I think Elvis met her when she was 14 and married her at 16! So maybe she was past her prime in the 90s

You don't really need the comparison to start with determining if it was better than the first one. Just focus on the enjoyment of the movie by itself. It kind of doesn't make sense that the title is about it not disappointing, but the immediate after thoughts is about liking it less, understanding less and finding what you didn't understand as cringey.
