My 1 minor complaint with this movie is how Ricardo Montalban (Ludwig) is so under-used. To see this guy play one of the great film villains of all time I strongly recommend watching Star Trek 2 : The Wrath of Khan (1982). Even if you're completely unfamiliar with ST this movie is damn near perfect and Montalban's performance is a huge part of it.

Denmark here, I'm not quite a Nielsen myself, but my name is Frank (though not Drebin), and my mother's sister and that part of my Family are all Nielsen's. Leslie Nielsen's father was actually a police officer, or more correctly he was an immigrant from Denmark who joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. His brother became the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada for a few years in the 80's and his half-uncle was the Danish-American actor Jean Hersholt who twice was awarded an honorary Oscar and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in his honor the "Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award" is still a special Oscar named by the Oscar Academy. The kind of secretly funny part is that when he is offered a Cuban cigar he said he is "Dutch-Irish, my father was from Wales", because in real life Leslie Nielsen's mother was from Wales, so he was neither Dutch or Irish, but he deliberately switched the "Wales" part from his mother to his father in this joke, he then go on to invite Priscilla Presley out for dinner, saying that he knows this out of the way place, that serve great (Danish) Viking food.

@@ptthatswhatshesaid .. Yes, it also explains how terrible he is at remembering the US National Anthem lyrics, because in truth he was not an American citizen, but a half Danish Canadian, so I think they just let him "run with it" 😁

Great movie. I hope you also do the sequels. It is a very funny trilogy, This trilogy is based on a short lived tv series of 6 episodes of Police Squad that was a head of its time and canceled you should also see it. The secretary in the movie that served the tea and was hypnotize is the directors mother she was also in airplane (the woman with the makeup). You should also see Top Secret another funny movie from the same directors of Airplane and this movie. Fyi The Shakespeare in the park bit is a spoof on Dirty Harry movie line (Which is also a great movie you should see).

Never knew about the TV series! I think we will do the rest of the sequels yes and Top Secret (but that one I have seen many times before! It will just beca first time viewing for her)

The "I shoot the bastards, that's my motto!" is a parody on a line said by Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry (which you should also react to and to the sequels as well =) It's cheese, not cake and that's not a kevlar, it's a sports pad that umpires usually wear for protection from being hit with a ball. The walk of the hypnotic baseball player Reggie Jackson is a parody of RoboCop's walk (another movie you need to see and react )

If you have a hard time with the "curdled milk" in this movie, you might want to stay away from "Alien Nation" (1988.) It's a great movie, but you might have to throw up during some scenes.

Leslie Nielsen, what a character 🤓👍 love him , cant think any of his comedies that I havent like... at least a little bit. Also, a actor, who he always looked like that... 80, 90s, 00s... like he had manege to stop aging.. just like Steve Martin. Mayby it is the white hair 🤔
