Voting is consent. They don’t care who you vote for, as long as you do. If you voted, you asked for all of this, and gave your blessing. Thats all they need. Remember, the parties do not run the country. They are just collecting consent on behalf of the people who do.

I normally agree with what Richard says, but i can't go along with this one. One would assume, that if everybody refused to vote, then a government could not be formed. In steps the dictatorship, probably not of British origin, who has an army sitting around in hotels waiting to do their bidding. It's all very well holding your hands up, and saying "Nothing to do with me" i didn't vote, but think of the consequences.

Im currently not able to work due to the Tories shutting down hospitals just as i needed their treatment, Now i live in pain and the dwp dont help one bit, I needed the courts to step in to get the meager benefits i receive, even then every couple of months they mess you up and cause catch up for the next six months. Living just below the line of sanity is hard.

I do agree with your mindset Richard but I don't think a majority of the country are there yet. Therefore the current system will carry on. So I am voting Reform this one time to give them just 1 chance to change the mess we're in.

We had one excellent candidate run for govt in NZ in 2023. Liz Gunn of the NZ Loyal party. But, I like Richard just couldn't bare voting in a corrupt shell game anymore. The last time I voted was for Billy Te Kahika in 2020 of the NZ Public Party & Advance NZ parties (an alliance). They got a lot of votes but in the end the tally was pitiful. Rigged. This left the Freedom movement despondent for 12 months. No one hardly did a thing as they were heart broken. Meanwhile, Labour (Jacinda Arderns party) were handing out TV sets, supermarket vouchers and rent money to the poor to vote for her - completely against the rules. But no charges.....fancy that!!!!

I don't agree with you this time Richard (unusual for me as you are brilliant at everything else!). But this particular election does need us to vote or we just end up with a Labour majority (yes it doesn't matter if it's Labour, The Tories, The Green Party of the Lib Dems they are all the same). It was only by voting that we had Brexit, imagine what it would be like if we were still in the EU, take a look at what they are doing to Hungary for one. So we have to get the politicians out who failed to put Brexit through as it should be and to stop Net Zero and the weather manipulation. I would agree that we are being part of the system by doing this, but sometimes you have to work from the inside to get to the core of the rot. I'm voting Reform UK, I know there are many good people in that Party and this is critical, other than voting, the only option is for physical upheaval and we really don't want to go down that road.

Totally agree with everything you say however my philosophy comes under throw a spanner in the works so I will vote for Reform with the hope that it will throw a big spanner in the works. They the government has had huge sums of tax payers payers money every year and yet there is almost nothing to show for it. We have the oldest properties in Europe and its nothing to be proud of.

People die for the right to vote. Without that right you will get what you are given. It may not be perfect but you haven’t experienced the alternative!

There should be no party politics at all. We should just get policies that are best for the people. We should all have blockchain apps on our devices that we use to vote on any policy change. And we should be able to suggest policies to be voted on. Apart from that, we should be able to organise our own lives as we wish, as long as we're not actually harming anyone. We just need a mindset where we respect our neighbours and then we can agree on compromises that work for both parties. We don't need government for that.

We are in a catch-22 situation; the only way the system can be changed is from within and that means getting people who are prepared to change it into a position where they can have some effect. You cannot stand outside and hope to change what's inside. By standing aside and not taking part in this election, you are saying that you are prepared to accept the results of the people who do participate. Even spoilt voting papers are counted and considered as a protest whereas a non-vote is considered as one who can be bothered or are not interested; it is not a protest. Even if just a handful of people vote it will be their choice that will represent the whole country, not the abstainers. All your arguments are valid reasons for changing the system but if we don't participate we won't change a thing, there has to be hope for change with the Reform party, they will not be perfect for everything but change has to be one step at a time. At least they are not in the pockets of the WEF; and that's a start. Havins said all that, I disagree with the party system of politics and believe that every MP should be independent and represent the views of the electorate, not the views of a political club which can be influenced and infiltrated by people with huge amounts amount of money to buy their wishes. Of course, this is just my opinion.

The way I see it, although I do agree with you, is that by doing nothing and not voting we get lumped in with that sector of the population who are completely ignorant or take no interest in how the country is run, only serving to fulfil their own interests. At least by spoiling one’s vote it looks like we have taken the time and effort to go and do so because we feel so strongly that none of the candidates are evenworth the vote and that democracy is broken.
