Funny how from the middle ages to about 110 years ago, there really wasn't a "perfect" body shape for women because we had supportive garments, padding, and over layers that made the foundation and final silhouette to achieve the fashion of the time. Between stays/corsets, bum pads, crinolines, bustles, etc, the clothing was all we really needed to be fashionable (yes, weight did vary and become a topic of gossip, but we didn't have to consider body types as much, because our bodies weren't visible. Note: I know many people argue that Corsetry was the same as body modification, but the whole myth about organs changing, sway back issues, fainting spells, difficulty breathing and breaking ribs has all been disproved and if you are curious in looking up references to learn more about these misrepresented garments, I invite you to please make yourself a cup of tea and binge watch Bernadette Banner, Abby Cox, Nicole Rudolf and Karolina Zebrowska. They are modern icons who represent historical fashion beautifully debunking the myths regarding the times of old with reliable sources, and hours of entertainment. Enjoy!

Not really, though. If you would represent it statistically, there would be a clear trend: Normal to low weight range for women. And the deviation from that would be existent, but not high. This means being overweight and chubby is simply not a recurring beauty standard. It also means beauty standards are by far not as arbitrary as you make it sound. There is a constant trend towards a slim waist, slim arms and legs and a slim face. Breast and butt sizes differ, but nothing else. And we all know that. There's no point in lying to ourselves to make us feel better by saying that beauty standards change and are always different and random subject to random fashions. It's also not empowering to think like that in my opinion because it's basically "giving up". "I can't make them happy anyway, so I'll just stop trying." Thereby you still validate the ideals you deem toxic (they are), and you still accept other people's ideals as the main reference. That's not uplifting for your self-worth, though, is it? Your self-worth would profit from you deciding to take good care of your mind and body and making that a priority whatever it might mean. Prioritizing health and well-being instead of prioritizing protest and riot and thereby teaching yourself implicitly to still listen to others and their opinions all the time.

YESSSSSSS THIS IS WHAT I’VE ALWAYS BEEN TRYING TO SAYYYY. Your body isn’t the problem it’s just that every few years we have a new standard, this can be correlated into fast fashion like when ppl get over clothes that were extremely trendy at the time an example for this is the 90’s thin and slim eyebrows. Though they were good at the time they have been essentially disregarded and now we all have laminated brows.

For real though, the 90's models still look perfect (and achievable btw)

70 years ago and 10 years ago are very similar, cool! It's interesting to see what fashion trends come back over time
