I also think someone with your mindset / perspective on the Penelope Colin story really was a part of bringing this season to life. You could definitely see the different view of points people have and why it changes how they interpret different scenes. But I think the viewpoint that you, and I think I share as well, mirrors the way I've seen a lot of the cast react two watching this season. The cast is FULL!! of Polin fans😂

Colin was never a rake-he was just trying to pretend to be one because that's what his brothers did and what society expected of him. It didn't make him happy, and the real Colin was still there-he was still sweet and kind.

Yes! Phillipa and Albion are so adorably in love with each other, and happy together. And...kinda dumb. Not really, because they are not really stupid at all. But they have led amazingly sheltered lives. "...lucky to have never been in love..." is so harsh, but also--it means he recognizes he is STILL IN LOVE with Penelope! Lord Debling ate vegetables. I find it hilarious that Violet reacts that way to Lord Anderson eating, exactly the way Colin reacting Penelope doing the same! And in the middle of night, let it be recorded--Penelope LOVES Colin, while Colin LOVES Penelope. Even in the middle of a gigantic fight/conflict, they have trouble not touching each other. They adore each other on every single level.

What’s bothering me about Eloise here was… I could understand her not wanting to get in the middle. She was still upset with Penelope, but then when Colin confronts her she’s like I’ve been trying to get her to tell you. Excuse me that may have been at the beginning, but then when Penelope told you she was going to tell him you told her no don’t tell him, it’s gonna break his heart, just stop writing… Penelope stops writing, only for Eloise to turn around and then want her to write again when it was to help the Bridgertons. I would’ve appreciated her leaving that little comment out because it wasn’t accurate.

There was nothing particularly distinctive about the way the gossip column was printed. They would have used a standard format and font, and a standard silhouette image for the cover. It wouldn't have been difficult to duplicate at literally any printer Cressida chose to go to. Penelope herself went through several printers, and there was never any noticeable change. Also, while I am always on Penelope's side, the only line of hers that I really take issue with is what she said to Colin after the Queen broke up their wedding breakfast. He couldn't possibly know what it's like to not be able to be himself in society? Is this not the same man she confronted literally the night before, and called out in the beginning of the season, for putting on a front in public? For "hiding the parts of [himself] that the world will not accept" and playing the part that is expected of him? No lie, being a woman in that world was tough. But that doesn't mean men were not also bound by the rules and expectations of society- they were different rules than women had to face, but still constricting. I think there's a tendency to think that if someone doesn't face the exact obstacles we have, that means their life is fundamentally better and easier than ours, but it's simply not true. This show does a great job of displaying all the difficulties women of that time faced. They don't need to throw an on-the-nose and incredibly unfair (and untrue) accusation at Colin to drive the point home. Sorry, I'm done now...
