Cat Cylinder Removal Procedure: Cancel gravity in surrounding work area. Turn lights off in shop. Flip the equipment upside down and work from the other side.

Cat designed that on a Friday before a holiday! Lol “ Yep looks good, run with that!” Try doing that on a mining site! Good video, thanks.

Been there. When you put it back , strap a piece of square tube to the barrel , come out to the end of the rod eye and then weld a piece straight up , high enough to clear top of frame, then a piece back toward the barrel end. And a lifting eye on top. Balance the cyl and slide it right back in. Easiest way to reinstall.

Awesome video. I landed an apprentice job at a CAT dealer and gotta say it’s the best job I’ve ever had. Always a good day working on heavy equipment.

I guess it's because it is (was !) an underground mining truck, that all components are "agglomerated" so tight in a damn narrow space ! Good work though, boys !

Last time I put an extension on a ratchet like that, the ratchet exploded.

Holy Crap..... I do NOT envy the mechanics who have to put that cylinder into the machine on their end.

At least you had fun with your scraper. My first thought was to stick a forklift fork under the cylinder to support it. Of course I wasn’t fighting it for two days. Too bad there’s child labor laws. You need a little person to crawl in there. These tear down videos are the best.

if it wasn't a rush wouldn't it have been easier to take the engine and transmission out first as they will come out for resale too?

Good mornin from Bend Quinton. Any idea on when you will be doing some work on your old Hooker Creek Pete 359 ? I asked in a previous video but figured there was a better chance of you seeing the question in a new video.

Cool... I'm really looking forward to you bringing the old girl back to life. I drove truck for 40 years, and the 359's have always been my favorite.@@quintonbartolotta

I have no idea how your business works…. Hopefully resale of part takes into consideration all the labor. Wow what an effort. All the best in 24. Also like the Cat system overview.

Wrong, it's not the length of the extensions, it's the number of them, each joint is where torque is lost, one singe long extension limiting it to 2 joints would most likely have worked
