Hi Mike, why not try a large heavy-duty cable tie to seal your grain bags at both ends, I hear that's a fairly successful way of approaching the issue as its both quick and efficient? 🤔

Mike thanks for telling us about your bad day. It makes me feel better about my day. And if you truly didn’t cuss once during all that I’m even more impressed. I really like your attitude and you the way you interact with your employees. The contest with getting stuck makes is fun. Your people operate the equipment like it’s theirs. I don’t see that much anymore. Thank you for making these videos. Otto from Otisco

I am a fifth generation farmer from Ohio, we don’t do nearly the amount of beautiful prairie acres as you do, but we love our Agco equipment and have switched all of our equipment except our planter to their stuff. Some of it may not be “better” here and there but overall the company’s ambition to make things right and improve their products by listening and working with the farmer is what had us sold when our long time local Ford/Newholland dealer retired and was bought out. You never realize how amazing a dealer has been for so many years until he’s gone, and Agco has definitely taken his place even being further away they always get things done quick, and treat you like a neighbor. I can’t say the same for other colors in our area anyways. Can anyone tell my why John Deere thinks all their new equipment is like top secret nuclear weapons? They have become almost like government weird about their products, and are so strange about demos and even simple maintenance questions. Everything’s always this huge secret that they can’t say, and it’s going to cost you at least a $250.00 standard service call to even begin to answer your question. Why have they taken that route? Does anyone believe it has to do with the ongoing legal battle that possibly might lead to some landmark congressional legislation on their proprietary service regulations?

Service technicians are becoming less and less everyday, not enough want to do this kind of work anymore. The dealers are feeling that shortage, all the colors, there are "help wanted" signs up everywhere. It's also becoming an 8 - 5 job. Use to be you went to work at 7 and quit when the work was done, it's not that way anymore. Not saying there isn't anyone that still has that mind set, but all in all at 5 o'clock, it's time to go home. And it the dealer pushes for more hours, they can leave and get a job down the street. These dealers have less labor hours to sell, and it doesn't matter what color. There are less technicians and less hours from the technicians in a day. So, do they want the techs talking to the customers on the phone or even in person and disturbing them? No. I know of several dealers in the states that charge for technicians if they are giving out information over the phone. Do they want to do that? No, they would rather you not disturb them. Ever try to call an Automotive dealer and ask to talk to the tech working on your car? Not gonna happen. The time has come to where the dealers need technician billing efficiencies to be very high in order to be profitable. Labor rates are extremely high now days. many think the dealers are raking in the cash. That may be so but it takes a tremendous amount of cash to keep the doors open. And I'm not even talking about the Deere dealers with their humongous buildings. that's something all together different. Today, ag technicians make a much better wage then say 10-15 years ago, it's right up there with automotive techs in a lot of areas. it's not uncommon for the higher paid techs to make 80k or even 100k in a year.

Considering the distances involved, your dealer's amazing. Here in Southern NJ, most of the Ag-Equip dealers are out-of State in PA or MD other than JD...and everything has to be trucked. It's very limited how far and where you can road equipment. Even if it's "legal" it's impractical due to the roads and the traffic. Lots of places you can't even truck equipment without roundabout routings due to clearances, traffic and bridges.

The different baggers that we have used for silage in the past have had wheel brakes, cable to be stop brakes and the last one we used had a cable that double back out the back of the tunnel in a loop that pulled through the silage that have the bagger resistance.

Mike, you need to buy Ashtyn a Sous Vide setup for Christmas. I bought one this spring due to being bored from staying around the house thanks to COVID-19. It is truly fire and forget, well at least for a few hours up to a couple of days. I have a killer pulled pork recipe that cooks for 2 days and yields very moist, fall-apart pork. I then smoke it a couple of hours and put it into multiple zip-lock bags and freeze it for future use. The wife then uses it to make everything from BBQ sandwiches to enchiladas.

Sorry to bother Mike, but I am interested to see how your soil looks like under the no-til or low till after treated with the 'Pro-till' practice (slews). Is it possible to show one day? Sure, not this time, because you're full-day harvesting. But maybe after harvest, whenever it is downtime, if ever that happens at your farm? Wonder how the crop rooting looks like underneath and how the crops get their nutrients from there. Your durum crop and product all look great, isn't it👌👍 Further pls can you show the flags or logo's you are using one day, maybe in a wider Q&A? Thnx a bunch buddy👍 Enjoy the durum races 👍😉

I see a lot of comments complaining about the Ideal combine, many from people who probably never operated a combine, let alone a Fendt Ideal combine. What makes you think other brands are any better? If you assume the JD X9 has less issues, don't make me laugh, it is new and will have many issues as all new machines have. I'm not bashing JD, that is just fact. When there are 7 machines running I would expect breakdowns to happen through a long harvest season and it just isn't the combines, the heads have breakdowns as well as you see in this video and they have far less moving parts than a combine. There are only two other combines in the same league as the Ideal 10T as far as throughput capacity, the Claas 8800 (which is a hungry monster) and the JD X9 1100. Case IH as of yet does not have a competitive machine, neither does New Holland since there is no way the CR10.90 will run with an Ideal 10T, short on power, threshing, and separating. So replacing the ideal combine isn't as easy as just trading them off for a X9 that will cost way more and still breakdown often with that many machines running. Furthermore the Ideal has excellent grain quality, excellent straw quality, relatively low losses, and decent throughput capacity. Not to mention a 3 year warranty that covers everything including oil and filters, no other combine manufacturer can touch that. Pair that with the fastest unloading, 485 bushel folding grain tank, fuel efficiency that is almost second to none, very large and extremely quiet cab, overall simple combine design with few belts and gearboxes, the ability to easily spread chaff over 50 ft, all combine internals and head are reversible, an unloading auger that can easily be extended for 60' heads and still handle the stress and weight (thus far), 295 HP variable speed header drive which is industry best as far as I know, Idealdrive joystick steering is now optional which is another industry first other than Tribine, etc, etc, etc. Yes it has its issues but AGCO will fix them as they already have been doing. The question is not if it will breakdown, but what kind of service will I receive when it breaks down and it looks to me that AGCO and Full Line Ag has been there to stand behind the product and stay true to their promises.
@johnsanders2798
@johnsanders2798 3 жыл бұрын
To be accurate... You are assuming the x9 will break down... we don't have to make any assumptions about the Ideal. Agco will eventually make this machine into a competitor. To bad Mike's warranty won't last that long.
@kadendonnay2663
@kadendonnay2663 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnsanders2798 To be accurate... Assuming any combine will break down is an accurate assumption, everything breaks down no matter the color. I can name many major failures in combines of every color, including JD. Does this mean JD is junk, no, failures happen. But personally I would take the combine with a standard three year warranty vs a combine with a 1 year warranty when those failures do happen. And yes, we all can agree the combine needs a little work yet but they are in a far better position that the model year 2019 combines that have been all updated. I have operated these Ideal combines personally and will be getting much more time in them this fall and they are honestly strong performing machines.
@johnsanders2798
@johnsanders2798 3 жыл бұрын
@@kadendonnay2663 A 9870 is not a new machine. That's going on 10 years old. Of course machines break down. But these machines obviously were released 3 or 5 years prematurely. I was being facetious to point out the false equivalence that you are using. I would rather buy extended warranty on any other brand and probably not have to use it, rather than have this combine that really really needs the warranty. If I had an Ideal combine burn, I would be grateful, and view it as an opportunity to purchase something much better.

@@johnsanders2798 Fair enough, I see where you are coming from. Personally if I was looking for a combine in this class size I would have a hard time spending the extra $100-$200k on a JD X9 and gain what? That is my 2 cents and I know there is a million other opionions out there. And maybe it is a little different for me since I am familiar with the combine and know about the changes made to it, the Ideal combine doesn't scare me a bit, I would be completely confident owning one. Just out of curiosity, what would be much better in your opinion? Just asking out of curiosity, no pressure.

@@kadendonnay2663 I have never driven an Ideal combine (I have watched 7 on KZfaq lol) However I have operated an x9 1000. It is a good solid machine that was actually field tested for a few years before intro. It is a bigger picture than just looking at the money up front. There has to be some value placed on a relatively trouble free ownership experience. Deere is a well run company and their resale values reflect that. I remember the introduction of the 9750 STS. It was not a good experience but still better than AGCO's introduction. John Deere is not making that mistake this time. The X9 is for sure 2-3 years ahead of the Ideal in development stage.

Is that your combine that is sitting still by the bagger waiting to make an additional pass once grain cart advances or is Ashtyn watching over to be certain you guys are starting the new bag correctly 😂🤣

Awesome Video, keep it safe out there ! Quick question: Do you pick up the grain and bring it to your westeel bins later in the season, or do you sell it basicly off the field ?

Most farmers i know take it from the bag to the elevator. The less you move it the more money you make.

Mike are those augers on the ideal combines all the same length? The 9T auger looks longer. And I'm glad you don't have any trees to back the auger into! Haha I have seen it happen!

Just wondering did the combines run on GPS/auto steer? Do they randomly check yields and storm for future use?
