Sophie really shot herself in the foot. Saying her high school doesn't challenge her and she is bored there. Red flag, right there. That is sheer arrogance, saying I'm smarter than everyone. Nobody is great at everything, school included. All four of these kids didn't handle interviews well.
@watyomamagot9 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Michelle and Diana had a pretty clear goal in mind when interviewing: conveying personality that the resume DOESN'T show and finding out more about their interested schools.
@spencerpalmer87406 жыл бұрын
The thing about interview is to try to be yourself. Being nervous during and interview? Really no way around that. Trying to impress the interviewer is a red flag, right off the bat. I find it better to tell the interviewer what they should hear, instead of what they want to hear. Just do the best you can at trying to be yourself during and interview, that is your best bet.

Sophie is actually a good student. However, she screwed her interview because she basically lacked common sense. And her parents are to blame for that. Just look at other videos: Seventeen years of her life were just devoted to excellence and resume-padding, without ever understanding what those excellences really mean for her. Her parents did not teach her that. Her past community didn’t even teach her that. Why? Just see the video before this, “I thought enormous responsibility to be a good example for others because I’ve NEVER FELT SO RESPECTED before.” Environment significantly shapes a person(AKA Universal truth). It’s too sad for her. If she had had a good college application mentor, or someone who were truly sympathetic for her, she would have gotten in at least one Ivy school.

Sophie seemed quite stuck-up in her interview. Actually, she just seems stuck-up as a person in general. As for Mike, he seems like a really cool guy, but he had pretty low scores, and he seemed kind of clumsy with the interview. I'm rooting for Mike, but it's not looking good.
@dr.chadphd3044 Жыл бұрын
Sophie did seem like the richest one out of all of them. Lived in a giant two story house with a garage big enough to fit multiple cars and drives her own convertible. Mean while the other girls live in a tiny apt in Astoria nyc and mike lives with his single mom and three brothers. sophie personality is stuck up and sheltered probably due to her rich background and controlling dad.

(*Columbia) Getting an interview has nothing to do with how good your application is at Columbia. Interviews are offered based on whether or not an interviewer would be available in your area.

The person who interviewed me didn't go to Harvard for undergraduate study, rather he went for medical school. So there wasn't much to talk about regarding undergrads. He asked for my favorite subjects in school, the activities that I participated in outside of school, and some other things that I cannot particularly remember right now. Overall it was pretty informal and much like a casual conversation. Good Luck! Hope we both become Harvard Class of 2018!

@futuredoc2020 Basically, Ivy League interviews are available to only so many people, since alumni are obviously not going to be situated in every location. So, if you're not asked for an interview, it does not mean you have less of a chance. This is why Mike's statement that Columbia's interested in him because he got contacted for an interview is wrong. Being contacted merely means that there were alumni in your area who had the time to interview you.

sophia sophia sophia.... although her grades/test scores are high, i dont think her mind is in the right place. she acts kind of superficial, like when she talks about her dreams and such, she replies as a robot would. there's no passion, like the other girl who was talking about saving a life and how it would make her feel good just to know that someone is alive because of her, and i think thats what colleges look for the most in the sea of highly qualified applicants
