I had a little of each back during high school. My GPA was a 3.1, SAT 1800, 29 ACT (late bloomer kid). Varsity Football and Model UN was my extracurriculars, along with some volunteer work outside of school. Even took extra AP exams to see how I fared up. I got into schools that shocked my peers, even the future valedictorian. My application had more quality over quantity, and my resume/track record distances itself from other Asian-Americans.

Awww!!! Diana and Michelle. Obviously the two who get into top colleges in the end, and they were friends all along, which means the colleges have a way of seeing who is really going to fit in at a top school. The coleges obviously didn't know that the two of them were friends!
@TheCheesyProductions11 жыл бұрын
to be honest, Mike should've gotten into a really good school. It is very rare that asians are on the football team and lots of other ECs. It is also very big that he has to care for his family. Maybe he should've put that into his apps so that the colleges know the amount of work and pressure he has.

Basically you see all sorts of people in my school. Ranging from future Harvard students in the making to possible high school dropouts. I am doing AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, English 11, World History, and Earth Science next year as a junior... Senior year I'm aiming for Calc 2/3, AP Lit or Lang, AP Macroeconomics and AP Miroeconomics.

@@saulbravo3485 I am now a Villanova University freshman studying computer engineering! I ED'd to Columbia but was rejected. Also got rejected by some other top schools like Northeastern, Cornell and somehow a couple schools I deemed targets/safeties rejected me too. I ended up choosing nova for its academic reputation, perfect class size, location, sense of community everyone talks about, lots of student groups to be involved in, and that there is support for underrepresented students (students of color, LGBTQ+ students, low-income students, 1st gens, etc). My friends here are actually pretty diverse considering the school I'm at and while nova has a reputation of being preppy, I've met some people who don't fit that "preppy" mold and plenty of very friendly people. I do observe a lot of people hanging out with their own race though (which is a little bit of a problem because it shows that racial issues exist at this school). I am part of the debate team, yearbook, and antiracist alliance.

Their stress comes from not only their schedules, but also their parents and their extra-curricular activities. But obviously you're a badass genius, so it makes sense that their class schedules seem easy to you.
@whenhen12 жыл бұрын
Kind of. In American high schools, most students take general courses their first two years of high school (bio, physics, chem, etc). In the last two years, students are allowed to take more specialized classes because it's thought they've pretty much figured out what they'll do after high school. But often times, those specialized courses are for the kids who can't handle the regular, harder classes. At my school for example, the students taking stats were the ones who couldn't handle calculus.

Different schools classes have different difficulties. She said her school was one of the top nationally specified schools in the nation. So that means her schools classes are generally harder than other schools.

In senior year, you don't stress over classes and grades. You stress over standardized tests and applications. Taking AP classes in senior year is only for the explicit purpose of pimping out your resume. The fact you actually stressed over senior year grades, which some colleges don't even look at, perplexes me.
@PhanteusZ11 жыл бұрын
That's actually one of the myth's, there's a guy who owns a website "hopeless to harvard" that reveals that admission process and who they really look at. Whether you take his words or not, he says ivy league's prefer more of focused students, who are talented and passionate in one area. Most of world geniuses are like that. You can't say Albert Einstein has good leader ship, or good at sports. Ivy league's would want him.
