My absolute favorite attraction at Disneyland. Really gets you into the spirit of the holidays. Always a treat to see it return every year and it never gets old.

I know that the Tokyo Haunted Mansion Holiday was originally intended for WDW, so why don't they just remake the props from that version?

I see "Garner" is on the naughty-or-nice list! A friend of my family, Rita Taylor, introduced me to Garner Holt in 1991. He had just unveiled his animatronics for her new shopping center tower in Calimesa. A day or two before, Rita gave me and my mom a preview tour of her tower attic, containing a king and a queen, and the Garner Holt electronics that would make them work. It's now wonderful to see that "Garner" appears in that other special attic as well.

yea its at disneyland, its a party they have in selected days and basically they kick everyone out of the park and only have the people who bought tickets for the event. Its super fun, they have trick or treat stations, a special fireworks display and a parade. Its also very costumie, so tons of people show up in their costumes

3 weeks of decorating a haunted house for Christmas, about 99% of which is technically Halloween decorations... God, I'd love that job...

You guys are amazing and do a supurb job! I am amazed how much you change, so quickly. I am blow away by it. I hope Disney builds you a new ride that you get to make because you are all so creative - I would love to see what you can come up with all on your own.

I wish they could do this at Disneyland Paris. But in France, Nightmare before Christmas is less known and It's been only a few years since you can meet Jack and Sally in the park. So I guess we're still years away from a transformation of Phantom Manor.

Halloween Time at The Disneyland Resort began today (September 14th). Because the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas" covers Halloween and Christmas, this theme will run through January 6th. You can also meet Jack Skellington and Sally near the mansion. They're always a fun couple to visit.

According to Jason Surrell, since Walt Disney World attracts more international visitors than local ones, it's best that the Haunted Mansion remain in it's original form, so that first timers can enjoy it in all it's glory.

Out of all the times they could temporarily change haunted mansion. They had to do it around Halloween. You know? That one holiday about the one thing that inhabits the haunted mansion that has the population of 999 ghosts.

Walt Disney World was going to have this. All of the parts were even made. However, in the end, they rejected it so that Disneyland California could attract more people. The parts made for Walt Disney World were moved and used by the Haunted Mansion in Tokyo Disneyland.

That is true, but there are still plenty of other rides at Disneyland that are unique. and considering both the other Haunted Mansions (Excluding Phantom Manor, which is kind of a different ride.) Have a Christmas overlay, it would be nice to have one in Florida. especially considering the people who live closer to there than to California.

i know an Imagineer and i asked him. he said the reason is because the majority of patron to Disneyland are local, but WDW is national/international. the Haunted Mansion is one of their most prized attractions, they don't want to have to close it for 3 weeks so a family from China will be asking what happened. i know, it sucks :(

I've never understood why they don't just make the ride the halloween version of nightmare before christmas, and when the holidays come around, make it the christmas version of the movie.

The Haunted Mansion has been around for quite some time before Nightmare Before Christmas, and is one of the park's most beloved attractions. Permanently changing it to a Nightmare ride would be a PR catastrophe. Although it's possible they could Nightmare its own separate ride, I doubt it would be a year-round hit. It makes more sense for them to capitalize on both with an annual overlay so nobody is entirely left out.

Disney took a poll and found that many guests at Disneyland live locally and visit the park more than once in their lifetime, unlike Disneyworld, where most guests are tourists who usually only visit the park once. Because of this, Disneyworld does not have a Haunted Mansion Holiday for the sake of guests who are spending their first and possibly only trip at Disneyworld during the holiday season and will still be able to see the original mansion.

just so you know, MORE people visit this ride when they change it over to "The Nightmare Before Christmas" than when it's the regular ride, they've clocked it, so it's okay if you are not a fan, but the numbers say more people ARE! just sayin...
