Try this. Go out and put the car in manual mode. Go to 4th gear and do a pull all the way to redline. It will let you do it the first and maybe the 2nd time(if you're lucky) with no issues. But if you tried that same pull for the 3rd time or more the car will hesitate on the top end. And if you don't get out of it, it will throw a misfire code. Mines would do it like clock work. I changed everything, all 8 injectors, all 8 plugs for colder and smaller gapped plugs, mafs etc. In the end it was the tune. Now I can do it, but the car is considerably less powerful(because viezus fix is to just dump boost) And viezu has no interest in looking into it anymore, that's why I just bought a vap tune. Hoping to get back my performance and a better tune. I'm hoping with the new datalogging cable they can see the issue and fix it.

I have a 2016 F-Type R with the exact same issue and setup. Long story sort, after 4K rpms the A/F ratios change causing the car to run lean and knock in the upper RPMs even with the tune. Contact Chris at VAP, he’ll update your tune and you should be good to go. We literally just figured this issue out a few days ago. Good luck and thanks for all the videos!

Don't know what to say Conner except as I mentioned previously and I am only clutching at straws here but in the UK tuners seem to sticking to the charger pulley rather than the crank pulley, weather this could have something to do with it I don;t know, you would know more than me.

I had to regap my plugs down to 0.025" to get rid of the hesitation up top. It did it at the dyno and the shop asked "you're running more boost than stock right? You didn't shorten the gap did you..." I hadn't, and he recommended closing the gap little by little till I it stops.

Hope you fix it. I was considering Vap tune without pully for my jag. This does worry me. Kudos for pushing the envelope. 👍

Best Advice = If you don't have AllData DIY, then get it. It's much cheaper than the Jaguar Manual ($225 last I checked) and has all the same info.

I'am a jag owner for over18 years, similiar problem changed the plugs, and all is well. This may not be the fix for you but its worth a try.

It sounds like the weakest coil. Try switching two and see if the trouble changes to the new cylinder. Another major issue with the F is the econobox oil, it is no where near sufficient to keep metal off metal at high pressures. I had to increase to 5W-40 to stop the ECU from pulling power when tuned (putting down 570WHP but only after the switch to SAE 40), but 95% of cars of this HP use 5W-60. There is no difference in viscosity when cold, and most of the viscousity difference narrows when hot, so SAE60 hot is way thinner than SAE20 is cold. But you WILL ruin your supercharger and timing guides under 100K miles with the high fuel economy oil Jag uses. To my knowledge, the F-Type is the only car in the world above 300HP which uses SAE20 water-weight oil. They do it to meet growing fuel economy standards, but the motor was originally designed for 10W-40, and at lower HP presuures.

Thanks for uploading these videos. I have an '18 F Type R V-8 convertible, white. I never thought I would own an automatic sports car, but this one just kind of fell into my lap. It is undoubtedly the most satisfying car to drive I have ever owned. Including my '08 Z06, 14 ZL1-1LE. Love it, but the troubles you are having after doing the stage 2 pulley and tune are rather discouraging. Especially considering these cars reputation for reliability. I am originally from Enid.

This is great content Conner, very watchable. I have a 2015 XF with 5.0 engine and stage one tune which works really well and no problems. I have been on the fence about adding the pulley. You will get it sorted out and help us all who are looking to do what you are doing. Much appreciated!

It's an issue in the tune. I had the same issue with my viezu tune. They had to do an egt change in the tune to fix it. But now the car is slower on the top end. I just bought a vap tune to see if their tune is better, so i can test both. This is very disheartening to hear that vap is having this issue as well. But i also purchased their datalogging cable to send logs to them to optimize the tune.

My guess. Listening to your video that sound is detonation. Run some race gas and I bet you it doesn’t happen. Don’t do it to many more times unless you want to be replacing your motor. The only thing that’s going to fix it is modifications to your tune (one step colder plugs and smaller plug gaps may help a bit). Please keep us updated. I was very close to doing the lower pulley on my Jag as well but don’t feel the tuning support is there yet. Good luck. I’ve heard great things about Velocity so hopefully they can sort it out for you. I have meth injection set up on my Jag (not tuned for it I just run it every now and then to clean the engine from carbon build up) but if I did the lower pulley I would always run it at WOT.

It’s spark plug blow-out, to much boost/load in the higher gears, change the plugs to a colder plug and make the spark plug gap much Much tighter, if you want to change or upgrade the coil packs. It’s 100% ignition related issue aka. Spark blowout.

my o2 sensor just died as well, luckily i have a month of warranty left so theyll patch that up for free tomorrow. Ill watch so i know how to do it next time though!

My F Type R is completely different than the motors used during my racing career. That was definitely pre-detonation. Since the motor didn’t do that before the tune, more compression, advanced timing with the higher compression is what I see as the problem. I always run a bottle of injector cleaner with every other fill-up. (Cheap insurance) buy racing fuel 112 octane or higher. Mix with 93 to get at least 104. If that doesn’t work I would pull the tune until something better is developed. Not worth a new motor. That’s my 2 cents
