Amen to that. I figured that out the hard way. During lockdown and JLRs call centres were shut and the dealership staff were mostly clueless. Let’s say they know about the app no more than an average customer who buys the cars….

Just set up my account and it was painful. I recommend, just like this video shows you, set up the initial account from your PC or Mac. Then follow the set up until you get to the download App portion and Start the 60 minute timer. Once you have the App on your phone and the timer is started, go to your car, ensure the Wifi, HotSpot and anything else is set to off after you start your car. Press and hold the indicated button 'Optimized Assistance' until the light goes from flashing fast to slow and then wait. This should work after about 10 minutes but it won't update on your phone. You will need to pull up the Jaguar sign in webpage on your phone if you have data while you are near the car. From there you will have a bit more info to enter like Naming your Car to the License Plate it is registered too. If you try and do this all from the car, it won't work as I tried this several times! You need to start the process from your PC or Mac and it should work the first time like it did for me.

I'm having comms issue with my f-pace and I've got Jaguar confused as it sounds like you are well versed. :) To "redo" the setup, do I first delete the vehicle from incontrol then redo it or is there a way that isn't clear to "refresh" the car? Thanks for the great vid, hopefully you have helped me get this silly thing working! :)

Hi, yes, you will need to remove the vehicle from your incontrol account and then re-set it up (by pressing the button in the vehicle)... That normally improves connectivity with the vehicle Hope it works for you

Hi i would be more worried about the timing chain issues with the ingenim engines ,than the app working ?

Is jaguar remote app safe to use? As i heard a lot of cars stolen news lately

Nah…. Probably people being irresponsible. The app is as safe as it gets. Never had a single issue. The car stays locked when heating up.

My Xf 2017 doesn’t have that button roadside assistance so can i use remote app or incontrol function?

That’s weird, even though it’s newer than my car which is 16-17... Might be located elsewhere?? If not, check the compatibility using this link: jaguar50.nextgen-technology.net/?CultureId=23&RegionId=1&Culture=en This is the official Jaguar system, you can also access this page by going to Jaguar official website... hope this will clarify things for you.

Does the car need to be connected to WiFi or sim card. Jaguar telling me it has to be done with them and for 100e

No, SIM card not required. Don’t believe Jaguar, they are absolute liars who would do anything to squeeze money out of you. Do you know if your car is locked by other/previous owner? Even then you don’t need to pay a penny. Jaguar told me the same and that they would charge me £45. I refused and told them to remove the previous owner (they are legally required to do that for free). Once done, just register online and sign up for the in control remote subscription…. Job done

@@mauvinfernandes thanks I'm going to try this now. I bought a 2018 used from a non jag dealer and they told me to remove prev owner would cost 100e I went mad saying he could see where I live and unlock me so they removed him. Then I tried to sign up on the app and it wouldn't work so I tried on Web browser I'll try this now thanks

Yes, as long as the light flashed rapidly and then slowed down in the end, the page will automatically refresh and say connection successful…

You will need your VIN to check compatibility. Once checked, you just create an incontrol account by registering in Jaguar incontrol website and add the car using the steps on my video

You actually cannot. InControl has to be built into the car at the factory level. It's one of the first things we learned about InControl.
