i swear when i look at janet i think of micheal she has everything from him. Stay strong janet and family.

My understanding is that 1: in the first film she had a car accident in wet weather that killed their son. She then refused to acknowledge and grieve properly that then put a strain on their marriage however Gavin stood by her and tried to make it work. 2: in the second film they still had troubles but tried to work through it. Only for her to spring it on Gavin in front of everyone that she filed for divorce. He was not aware it was happening. 3: During their divorce meeting they both agreed to split everything down the middle only for Gavin to realise that she did not disclose the monetary assets for her books (which are written on their and their friends marriages) NOTE: now I'm not a lawyer and I don't know everything about the law but what I do know is even if you have not lived with a spouse for a long time YOU MUST disclose all properties and assets in a divorce. This was probably what caused Gavin's reaction everything up to this point was dictated by her. As such he said he would fight her about this. 3: Gavin gets drunk and then goes to their house berates her about her shut off emotions and burns one of their sons photos while throwing a drink on her hoping to generate a response. 4: this then leads to this where it escalated to her making a scene at her office. He tried to walk away and leave probably to not make it worse but in so doing it caused the car crash. To end the film with Gavin dying and therefore all assets staying with her and to top it off obviously going on a date with Dwayne Johnson it is poor writing at it does not show her owning her own mistakes and growing as a person. The film portrays her a happy ending. Really it should have just ended differently in my opinion

When he was earning, oh, that’s fair to split. When she earned? “That’s my money Gavin, I earned that 🥺” Fine. She keeps the $800k she earned. He keeps the properties and the $970k. Since her money is in her account, that money must have been his.

Gavin was right the whole time, why as a women and a doctor you would lay with someone for so long KNOWING!!! you don't want or love them. " You know I love you.." yeah if you really loved him you would have divorced him a long time ago. You know deep down in your heart that a relationship is going to last or not. That whole trying to make it work was just for her "well being", not his,and the fact that she won't add the money to the divorce was crazy she was already gone and finished with him.

Didn't like Patricia in this movie. She blindsided Gavin with the divorce without telling him first. She writes her books solely on the retreats that she goes with Gavin and her friends so he's taking parts in her book writings and in the end of the movie she used him again in another one of her books. Embarrassed him at his job, she was just a mean bitch.

I mean while in divorce, you split everything 50/50. Not matter who’s money it is right? Like a women always get 50/50 of men’s property even tho she didn’t earn dime of it. So it’s fair for him to take the split of 50/50 of HER money

Abused her? She invalidated his feelings! As a wife/husband, you have to acknowledge what's important to your spouse. Obviously, if you're grieving over you and your spouse's child you'd expect to be comforted by your spouse EVENTUALLY. Yes, for some people, denial is in the process of grieving but obviously the "abuse" scene came after Gavin never received any validation at all. He grabbed her, did not hit her. Burning baby pictures was stupid but you can't ignore her selfishness.

that i will agree too. Because she wrote and she went on the book tours, plus she spent alot of hours writing and putting her thoughts and feelings into her book. So Patricia should apologize for embarrassing him and split the rest of the other bank accounts and savings. But overall the book money should be her's.

its not about this particular film. besides he wouldnt have done any of that in the first place , if janet didnt leave him on the side. all the man wanted was to feel important. he wanted to know that she really did love him, but because she didnt it lead to depression, which lead to the envents that happened. to top it she's withholding money from the man that he did help with. he just wanted to half it. he would have left silently if she did
