Im really surprised as to how, one of the best limited overs openers we've ever seen, whos career turned gold after getting a chance to open in ODIs, went 6 years after that till he got a chance to open in tests. On paper his game seemed to support tests, he wanted to play tests, he had a great start to his test career

It's hard for me to put Karunaratne on the same tier as Rohit and Khwaja, considering how he hasnt been facing the big 3 teams apart from a couple of india series (not his fault, blame it on an outdated series scheduling system the boards have instead of having a centralised one).

Karunaratne hands down best test opener followed by Khawaja. What makes Karunaratne special is he plays for a weak SL team with almost no support at the other end, but still manages to score runs with the highest test average.

Surprised you didn’t mention how fast bowlers have been hunting left handed openers from round the wicket for a decade now. Probably part of the reason we have a weird collection of openers now. Seems a lot of the guys had to adapt to being openers than were specialists (barring karunaratne). Probably should give usman and dimuth more slack because of it.

I feel as of now Jaiswal shouldn't be included in the mix, he only played in South Africa and was his first SENA outing, needs more time, and then his inclusion would make sense for good/bad or downright ugly..... Let him bloom in his international career.

I must say Dimuth Karunaratne is one of a Test opener. Always loved his game. But Rohit Sharma in my view edges past by whisker only because he started his career as a middle order batsman. Usman khawaja is also a very underrated opener

Devon Convay with Crawley is a good combination at the moment. Too early for Jaiswal, and Khawaja has been absolute failure in recent times. These two has got runs almost everywhere they have played. Plus gives you the right balance witg strikerate and a left-right combo.

@@abhiram-oi9vt khawaja was the best opener in the year 2023, he has been terrible since last 3 series and next one against India will be even worse for him. Rohit is same as Crawley, who attacks, he doesn't defend, more so he has not played much test outside home due to injures. Among The top 3 in the video only karunanratne has good defense but he is yet to face any major opponent, apart from SA. scoring against Ire, Afg is far easier compared to the 2 best bowling attacks in the world atm, Australia & India. He is capable but is due performance. Also, just to break your bubble in last 19 innings he has crossed 50s 5 times and 100s 1.

@@abhiram-oi9vt no doubt about Rohit's defense but the problem is he just doesn't do it, he prefer to attack, and ends up throwing is wicket, which convay does all the time. Plus he is still due performance outside home. Except England & WI (where he has been Ok), he hasn't been good anywhere else. I would chose any player over Khawaja, as first, he is a no.3 batter and 2nd the conversation is about current form, which is where he lacks more than anyone on this list. And lastly, it's called having an opinion, which can be different than yours.

But since Rohit has 2 tons at home and Khwaja doesn't have any in last 20 innings, the stats you mentioned are crappy as well. You can't defend them. No doubt Rohit is bad outside Asia but Khwaja ain't special either, currently. Even retired Warner is miles ahead of both of them, lmao.

It is too early. Do not forget Kambli, Murli Vijay, Karun Nair, Mayank Agarwal, Pujara, Rahane and others. The list is long. The latest addition to this dubious list is Ishan Kishan. All had beautiful hundreds, double hundreds, and triple hundreds under their belts. But today they are in oblivion. Unless Yashasvi endures ten years at the helm and stays consistent, we can not judge by his performances yet.

Best spinner in the world? Shriyanka patil. she dont spin much but what she does is make ball dip. She has bowled wickets than other comparatively i think. We just never had that kinda spinner in mens cricket. Mens cricket spinners are too scared. May be lyon is not as he rips everything but even him has small parabola loop. Ashwin has bigger parabola. Perfect spinned ball drops at batsman blindspot ( this is spot he cant reach with bat unless he moves at last minute. Only way to hit the ball is defend as you do not know how it bounce or backfoot play.

Sunil gavaskar should talk to jaiswal. he throw away 2 century chances. When its raining you must get as much water you can. You never know in future that he get to play poor bowlers like england in indian pitches. The thing about jaiswal is his mental strength. He neutralised anderson and took out the venomus teeth of england attack. Without him england would have won 5-0. its just that simple. No other opener even come half way of the impact jaiswal had.

That said Shreyanka patil is year of horse. Meaning she needs to be pampered and cajoled. Horse has mood swings and hibernation. Sehwag!!!. As long as people praise horse , SKY is the limit. They hate politics. Speak their mind. Their downfall mainly due to mood swings. People misinterpret that but that is the way life goes for horse. She got the skill for spin bowling. if india have good captain ( non named mandhana) after kaur ... i say jemima rodriguez has more stronger mind than mandana. But we humans are opaque in seeing who has leadership skills. We are not perfect. I mean for last 20 years humans make Ugly curved cars. Its astonishing to see how wicked and crooked humans are. Why make ugly cars? Someone decided that we should sell ugly cars because we dont deserve good looking cars. That is for people who buy cars for 1-2 million Indian woman need good batsman. After kaur there is none. I mean a batsman who can put fear into opposition. WPL can help indian cricket in that way that they do not need scout for strong minded players. They will show up in wpl by playing key knocks under pressure.

Already cricinfo article on her. I did not know she existed until by chance i saw the wpl semifinal highlights and though who is spunk girl. searched in youtuve found her CPL games where she dipped the ball. I never seen any bowler dipped since shane warne or L sivarama krishnan . But she bowled differently in WPL though. Here she dont spin but bowl at eye length. Ball go eye length of batsman and drop. She is hittable but one mistake you are gone. She need to open against Delhi to neutralise manning. If she got hit its fine. She can crush delhi if its her day. Knowing mandhana as poor captain , Delhi wins as usual. Delhi probably play out shreyanka if they are smarter and hits out after she finished her quota. i think RCB lost all their game against delhi
