when i was a kid my mom wouldn't give me direct cash, but mardi gras coins that both represented $2 and play time on electronics. I would get them for almost anything - making my bed, getting the mail, noticing if the gas tank was below half in the car, for exercising, for extracurricular activities, etc. I could get the equivalent of $100 in less than a week. It taught me how to save, and instelled good habits and work ethics. Now I regularly exercise, always make my bed, limit my screen time, etc, well into adulthood. Although I think $50 per chore is a lot, it clearly wasn't a long term deal and was just to show him that "I can't just buy x for you."

Imagine growing up getting PAID for doing chores 😳 I remember being so jealous of kids who did get paid for chores but my parents couldn't really explain that they just couldn't afford to do that so I was just bitter until my baby brain figured out that we were,, not the richest

FELT THIS, my family was homeless when i was growing up so we lived out of a car and an RV, so my brother and i didn't have chores nor were we paid to do anything so when i found out about the concept of chores i used to beg to do them for free LOL we were friends with some kids that we stayed at the house of sometimes that had chores and my brother and i would (very excitedly) do their chores for them, they definitely did not mind our enthusiasm about it either LMFAO

My family didn't pay us to do chores, they said us doing chores was our way of pulling our weight since we didn't have jobs, pretty ironic that now both my older siblings have jobs and pay 70 quid a week to live here they still have to do chores and my parents still complain they don't do enough.

Right? I didn’t get paid for chores as a kid either, same reasons. Even if I had money and kids I’m not sure I’d pay my kids for chores. Kids need to learn that running a working household is a team effort that takes self-motivation, and that a clean and well-ordered home is its own reward. I’m fine with giving them some spending money, for fun and to learn financial responsibility. But paying for chores? I’m not on board.

Ah. Grew up below the federal poverty line, not food insecure or anything, and I got paid 25 cents at most for doing dishes (my least favorite chore until recently, now I love doing them for mindfulness purposes). Yeah. "Allowances" were a fantasy for the most part :P thought they were just a TV thing to do!! So I feel you

Dhar Mann’s videos are definitely getting more trope-y and more meta. Pretty soon there’s gonna be a video where they do a “you see/so you see” right at the beginning and then you hear Dhar Mann yell “Cut, that’s a wrap!” and the cameras pan out to show the whole set and all the crew and the actors go home and that’s where the actual video starts lol

@@alilordoftheskies5079 I feel like it's because there's just so many people talking at once. People want their messages to be seen by their favorite streamer, and as such some of them result to just being as rude or obnoxious as possible because that's what sometimes gets noticed more. I've seen smaller streams with slower chats where this isn't an issue because everyone has their chance to talk and the streamer actually is able to read everything.

depending on where you live, but yes more than federal minimum wage. which tbf is the min where I live. I just know there are some cities where the min is much higher (than 7.25)

Adding on to this, the states (that I know of) that have a minimum wage of less than ten dollars is Alabama, Idaho, Kentucky, Georgia, and Indiana. There could be more, but I'm not sure. All of the states listed have a minimum wage of $7.25

Not for showing emotion, but I've commented before that the yt comments having a go at the twitch chat are over the top and that i didn't get why Jarvis would spend so much time responding to a joke or sarcastic comment negatively, I think that kind of thing is what he meant. I'm sorry if it ever made Jarvis self conscious it was more directed at the really exaggerated yt comments, of course you can express emotion man

About the kid who liked doing chores: When I lived in a trailer park, I had some friends down the way. Anthony, Jasmine, and their little cousins. They had to do their chores before they played (we did not, and we did not do our chores at home). Well, my older brother and I LOVED doing their chores. We did their chores every single time we came over, mostly so we could play with them faster. It got to the point where we got banned from doing their chores because they got paid for them, so they got paid to do nothing while we did all the work. (We didn't even mind, but their parents did)

This reminds me of one time when I was very little. We'd just moved into a new neighborhood and my mom had backed cookies for me to hand out to our neighbors as an introduction. Apparently what I actually did was sell them to our neighbors and come back with like fifty bucks which I was then forced to return.

i feel like the fact that the kid who was doing the chores allowing his mom to come over to thank him, and being oblivious to the fact that the other kid wanted it a secret (even though he literally shoved him under a table to hide him from his dad) is a big continuity error. unless hes just a wet blanket snitch which would make sense given how his personality trait is loving to do chores

I was going to comment that CRT tv looks like what I would play my Genesis on when I was a very small child. But, upon closer inspection, that tv looks nicer than what we had, haha!

"You see/so you see" is like opening amd closing quotes or parentheses; you have to have them at either end for it to work.

I don't mind Jarvis trying to keep chat on track, I'm mad that twitch chat can't pay attention for two seconds so they know how the time skip is called. It's brought up in every single bingo stream, why is it so hard to remember that a scene transition is not a time skip? Jarvis isn't even being disrespectful when he reminds them

That's just what your room looks like when your parents don't let you decorate or make choices about your room so you pull out posters from random magazines and scotch tape them up to try to show some semblance of individuality until your mom notices that you put tape on the wall and yells at you for "ruining" the paint with scotch tape...
