It is being said that the new technical director would play the head role in this summer transfer recruitment, because Dan Ashworth coming any soon isn't possible. So, it's great if Wilcox is joining soon. Ofc, we need new and better players but as a fan, I would judge this new board's capability based on how they manage the outgoings. People need to understand that "outgoings" is the most important thing this summer. Let's hope we raise some money from it and then manage smart signings (I don't want any player to come in over 60-70M, instead, get 2 players for half the price each).

the part i dont understand is why do we need to pay compensation when Wilcox had already resigned? Doesnt that mean both parties has already agreed to terminate any agreement/contract(salaries, benefits, compensations) between them thus can freely come to United? I love the way you frame it like these new appointments have some deep love for United - they're coming for money and / or status at a bigger club, let's not be fooled.

Even after watching this I'm still not exactly sure that I understand what a technical director is supposed to do. All these different roles in football seem to depend on the club in question, and more than that they seem to depend on what people exactly are in other roles at any particular time. To me it almost seems like clubs hire a few different people with various different skills so they can tick all the boxes they require, so they can have a broad range of experience between them. And then they just give them the closest title that matches each person's experience.

No doubt he was the man responsible for bringing & developing the likes of Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, Jadon Sancho through City's youth set up when he was there & no doubt we're bringing him in at the request of Omar Berrada who knows him very well during their time at City. We're bringing in the right people but question is whether we can get agreement reached with Southampton same with Newcastle so that both Wilcox & Ashworth can start work for us this summer like Berrada is gonna do.

Time to get real. Having the opportunity to work for and be part of some of the world's biggest clubs (ie, man utd, Liverpool. Real Madrid, Bayern etc...) is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these executives. Blink and its gone, and it becomes one of the biggest regrets in their life. So these smaller clubs, I hate to say it, should just suck it up and let them go. Take the cash, reinvest it and continue improving. What's the point of holding on when the executive's heart is already not there?
