I'm a critical care doc and this is everyday for me. They did an absolutely fantastic job in tight quarters. Trying to resuscitate someone in tight quarters and with all that equipment on is very hard to do. Those guys really need to be recognized by the league for that effort. They saved a life. It doesn't get any better than that.

One year ago today - thanks to the quick actions by arena personnel we’re not talking about “the late Jay Bouwmeester” but the retired one. The rescheduling of this game was one month later, Wednesday March 11, in what turned out to be the final day of the regular season - the league shut down the season due to the coronavirus. Play would resume in late July with a best of 5 preliminary round that excluded the top 4 teams from each conference, who played a round robin format to determine seeding. 24 of the 31 teams reached postseason play based on points percentage (uneven number of games played)...Anaheim was one of the seven teams that did not qualify. The others were Detroit, Buffalo, New Jersey, Ottawa, San Jose, and Los Angeles. (Side note: it was the first time since 1996 that no California team made the playoffs.)

I recall when you posted the "NHL Game Delays" video, there was a clip where the start of the game was delayed because the emergency paramedics were not in position as a major vehicle accident occurred outside the Panthers' stadium. Blues fans have to be remembering when Chris Pronger went down on the ice in the playoffs vs Detroit. Looked fine for a second then collapsed with a heart arrhythmia. Scariest thing I’ve ever seen live on the ice. It’s the teammate reactions that always get to me. They know what kind of warriors they play with and when they see them go down, they know it’s something bad immediately and don’t hesitate to yell for help. I was actually at this game last night. They were doing a give away a few rows over from me and I watching them do the trivia and chasing people down for it. When it was over I looked back to the ice so I could see the puck drop and medical staff was everywhere. All you could see was his chest protector come off and people start doing CPR. The silent hush that overcame the crowd as we all simultaneously realized the situation is a noise I’ll never forget.

Blues fan. Up here in the frozen north of Alaska. I personally think it is irrelevant if such a video were to generate money for the channel because the news stations certainly make money from everything they do, so why not you. We don't get news up here of anything such as this. I rely on You Tubers 100% to keep me informed so this video is appreciated. Other NHL players years past suffered in same way, on bench after a shift. It is a relief to know he is okay and undergoing testing.

Stuff like this always reminds me of Jiri Fischer from the Red Wings. I watched that happen live as a kid, then a couple years later, he was in my team’s locker room giving us advice. Even as a kid, I couldn’t help but feel heartbroken for him because that ended his career. These guys push themselves so frickin hard, and sometimes it can eventually backfire after a long life of constantly pushing yourself passed your limits

I was an EMT for 6 years, I did standbys for OHL games in addition to high volume urban 911, you could tell how bad it was based off the fact that the EMS crews left their portable suction and LUCAS case on the ice. We didn't leave things behind, ever, and on the rare occasion something did get left behind, it was typically a chaotic call that you had to transport fast from. A player going into cardiac arrest on the bench is one of those times. Calls that have been chaotic enough for me to leave equipment included a double overdose and a pediatric cardiac arrest. Good on the team for saving him. And let's be honest, here, as good as team doctors are, they are typically not emergency trained and are no more help in a cardiac arrest than anyone else CPR trained. The medics are the ones who know the algorithms for cardiac arrest meds, the EMS crews on scene were the ones who did this.
