I saw Rage play live with Wu-Tang Clan back in '97. Rage was two songs in, when Zack started jumping. He came down and broke his ankle on stage. They took him back stage, wrapped his ankle up, and ten minutes later he was back on stage, jumping around on one foot. Finished the show out. He is nothing if not dedicated.
@LG12048 ай бұрын
Meanwhile he snapped his ankle again and they canceled the entire european tour

I was at that show. Then when I saw them at MSG in August of '22 I didn't know why he was sitting the whole time. Then I found out he broke it again. They sounded just as good as they did 25 years earlier.

Rage were way ahead of their time. Not surprising Tom went to Harvard for political science, but dude has a Masters in guitar. And Zack's lyrics, voice, and anger get the message across even more. Sometimes stars align and you get the perfect band. Like Rage

“When RATM first started out, no bands in the rock world wanted to touch us for a support act. It was Public Enemy, Cypress Hill and House of Pain that truly supported RATM in our earliest days."

For the most part yes, but the very first concert they played as RATM was opening for Tool. But Tool is just different :)

Exactly. A bunch of hardcore punkers with lame music never wanted a thing to do with them. They all sucked anyway. Public Enemy and Cypress Hill was where it was at

Rage never got the respect they deserve. Zack's lyrics are truth, Tim's bass is funky and groovy as hell. and of course Tom on guitar the only man to ever "scratch" a guitar.

This is a great example of what made Rage such an amazing band. There are so many elements of differing styles mixed in here. They have the lyrical qualities of Rap, some rhythmic bits of funk, the drive of hard alt-rock, and even a bit of punk in their outro. More importantly, their sound is genuinely live, rather than being the product of heavy studio production.

I saw them live in 2000. Best god damn concert I've ever been to in my entire life!! They were never known to be chatty during their concerts, and the only thing any of them said was "this song is called A bullet to the head" and the crowd exploded! The audience was there to have a great time and we did so TOGETHER! The only word I can find that fits the feeling is SOLIDARITY! Everyone was having fun, taking care of each other, looking out for each other, helping each other. If you fell, you would immediately be picked up, if you looked out of breath, people would ask you if you were ok and if you needed help to get out. This concert was at the biggest music festival in Sweden at the time, Hultsfred, and I saw Slipknot the night before. It was so fierce I had to back off, but during this one, I never felt threatened. We were having our arms around each other's shoulders, jumping with pure joy! I cant even do the feeling justice...

It blew up with 8 big hits out of the 10 tracks. By the time they took the stage at PinkPop in 1993 their Lp had solidified them as Rap Metal Gods. My all time favorite band. When I was in HS in the 90s, Rage Against the Machine was my favorite band. I saw them live several times but my favorite shows were with Wu-Tang Clan in 1997, and at Tibetan Freedom Festival in 99. They could lead a Revolution! You were ready to go to war after 20 minutes in the pit. At Tibetan it had been raining all day and the pit was a downhill mudslide and everyone was going apeshit. The ending to Bullet in the Head was always one of the best moments. Checkout Freedom, Bulls on Parade, Killing in the Name of, People of the Sun, Tire Me, Viet Now, basically their entire first Album and Evil Empire. Zack De La Rocha was big into Hardcore Punk and Hiphop. Tom Morello was big into Heavy Metal and Public Enemy and his mother was a hippie activist and his dad was either a Black Panther or some type of civil rights activist so politics, heavy rock music and rap were a big part of Rage Against the Machine.

I give a shout out to the living dead Who stood and watched as the feds cold centralized So serene on the screen You were mesmerized Cellular phones soundin' a death tone Corporations cold Turn ya to stone before ya realise They load the clip in omnicolour Said they pack the 9, they fire it at prime time Sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz And mutha fuckas lost their minds Just victims of the in-house drive-by They say jump, you say how high

Saw them live in late '92 at a tiny club with about 500 other Gen Xers. We didn't know what hit us. We tore that club down. The police showed up at the end, which was a mistake on their part. Fights, batons, pepper spray. What a powerful band! What an amazing time to be young and alive!

It’s crazy. This is 1993!!! No act like it today. Zach hands down, top 5 greatest rappers of all time.

I was right there in the audience at the concert Pinkpop in Holland going nuts! It was insane. Before that I saw them also live in a smaller club in Amsterdam (the Melkweg): they absolutely destroyed it. I mean literally: it was so intense and everybody was on fire. They are still a tremendous inspiration.

As a 12 year old back then i watched this on tv live. Unforgettable memories were the pinkpop concerts during those years, so many legendary performances. I was lucky to witness ratm with zack at pinkpop around 2010, dont know the exact year, but even then I jumped like I never did before, their music is so energetic...you just have to jump.
