We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning kzfaq.infoUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

Great review, very detailed! I saw that you have or at least had the Aiwa Exos 9. Which speaker sounds better overall between the Aiwa and the Jbl Boombox? I narrowed my options down to those 2. I love bass but I also listen to all types of music so I need a great all around speaker.

Terrance Shipmon Jr thanks. Overall the Aiwa sounds better. If you put the ruggedness of the JBL aside, the only thing better about it is that it boosts bass at low to mid volumes more. But everything else sounds better about the Aiwa and it gets louder and has more bass at max volume. Hope that helps.

I usually have treble set to normal, bass at max and it sounds good on my bravern xxl, I never have it with bass at mid unless I'm low on battery.

I have both the JBL boombox as well as the JBL extreme. When I play them both at the same time the sound is absolutely fantastic. I had the JBL extreme first and when the JBL boombox came out I had to have it. The sound is flawless.

JBL Boombox features larger battery (20,000mAh compared to 15,600mAh) and it delivers longer playtime (22h compared to 14h). They both have USB charge out ports (Boombox has 2). You can pair wirelessly up to 100 JBL Boombox speakers together while BRV-XXL doesn’t support daisy chaining. They both have a bassy sound signature but Braven BRV-XXL offers more detailed and richer sound. Bass heads will like the Boombox more.

This video does not do either of these speakers justice. I was really in the fence about the braven but then I went in store yesterday "I live in Norway" they had the xxl2 so I tested it and it's a very good speaker. I bought it yesterday 23/11/21 I payed around $280,00/ 2,498 nok €248,00 £208,00 on black Friday sales. The speaker is alot of bass so much so it shakes my whole computer table and everything on it. Sure it's not as loud as the jbl boombox 2 but at half the price it's a steal its a deal it's the sale of the fucking century! The 360 sound makes up for loudness.

The Braven has more quality of a sound. The highs are crisper & the lows deeper. The jbl might sound louder do to the mids, but that doesn't make the quality of the sound better. I've compared my XXL vs my boys jbl boombox & he agreed as well. Both top of the line for what they are.

I've got the Braven XXL, and really don't play it as much as I thought I would but I've gotta say, it has some terrific bass...I don't play it on the higher volume, for the most I keep it about half way in my shed and it makes turn heads because of the solid lower tones...perhaps the JBL has more power/clarity but with a 99 dollar coupon, Braven was the one I could afford

The road noise makes this test useless, plus you have the Jbl set for optimum bass but have the Braves set at neutral. As far as 30 percent volume? That may be subjective, it sounds like you have the Braves set at a lower volume.

I have the jbl xtreme 2. While the speakers are generally better sounding and have better sound quality, the internal build quality is slacking. After 6-8 months of use my Xtreme 2 just fails when turned up the distortion is unbearable; the volume up and down button no longer works properly I have to press it 100 times to get it to turn up or down. while I love JBL I do don't like my sound dying due to bad drivers and such

Thomas Riley at the time of production it was a $300 vs a $400 speaker. Also they are roughly the same size and max volume with outdoor ruggedness.

I do like the 36o sound but I prefer the boom box, I have the ue megaboom and it's 360 but I use my jbl Xtreme more because overall I like the way it sound and better sounding bass

arry wong when I compared them they were $300 and $400. I’ve also seen the JBL drop to $350. Either way they are similarly sized speakers with a degree of water proofing.

Im Derpizoid Hearing both one right next to the other I can tell you that the Braven seems to have a little more emphasis on highs, but the JBL sounds better overall.
