Just did my 12 piece front suspension kit from detriot axle. Plus 2 wheels bearings. So far I've noticed they have reasonable prices and I live really close to Detroit so it was very fast shipping for me!

I've got a Jeep Liberty that I am trying to replace the whole thing on. The lower control arm is had a ball joint broken twice so it has a badly deformed hole and I need to replace it. I've seen enough good videos on replacing the top I could use some help on the bottom one. Do you have a video that shows a little more detail?

I've always wondered what all the differences in the suspension were between the Limited, Renegade, Rocky Mountain and the diesels. I've seen so many parts that say they won't fit the crd, some that say they won't fit crd or renegade. I've been keeping my eye out for a crd for another project. Thanks for watching!

This was awesome! I plan on doing this someday, but I'd like to know: what size sockets did you use throughout this install for the front suspension?

Stupid question. But I need some help. How does the bolt on the lower control arm come off? Do you undo the side with the nut (left side if you're looking at drivers side), or the side with the tab(right side if you're looking at drivers side)? Mine is stuck on and having no luck getting it off. Keep up the great videos on the KJ. Very helpful so far!
@RockyXTV
@RockyXTV 6 жыл бұрын
You remove the side with the nut. The tab on the other side is actually an alignment cam that is attached to the bolt. It's kinda' like a washer that has been welded off center to the bolt. Try taking another jack is you have one and put some upwards pressure on the bottom of the control arm, this usually allows you to push the bolt out. Thanks for watching and good luck with your repair!

hey, how did you get the the peace off that the lug nuts screw on that is held together with the tree T14 studs from the back? you didn't show that part. Mine is stuck and will not just slide off. is their a lock ring or what?
@RockyXTV
@RockyXTV 7 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the hub assembly what you have to do is knock the axle free from the center splines, then I just took one hammer and put it against the back side of the hub. Then use another hammer to hit the other one, just keep hitting it and it will come out of there. I've also seen people bolt an old rotor back on tho the hub and use that as something to hit. Or if you know someone with a slide hammer, or you can rent one I think. No locking ring on mine, I hope that helps you out. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to keep up on all the new videos and products, thanks again!

I had issues on an old Saturn I have and made something I saw online...took a flat piece of quarter inch metal, drilled holes for the studs, then welded on about a foot and a half solid pipe. I've used this "tool" multiple times since then! Bolt it on, hit it with a sledge, and the hub will fall right off. I only do this if I'm planning on replacing the hubs!!!

How did you get the bolts from your upper control arm to come out? My rear bolt closest to the fire wall is stuck. I've tried pounding on it with a billion extensions and the bolt threaded back on the screw, but it won't budge. Please HELP!
@RockyXTV
@RockyXTV 6 жыл бұрын
All I had to do was use a ratchet wrench to make it un-thread itself from its spot. You can also try taking some of the weight off of the control arm. I didn't run into many removal issues as I was taking everything out so everything was out of the way of everything else. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I got those same spacers to put on my Liberty recently and I noticed that the bolts on the new quick struts I bought are to long and hit the top of the spacer and doesn't sit flush on top of the strut. So it looks like I'll have to cut the bolts to make them shorter. Did you have to do the same?

Do you remember what size the socket was that you used to take out the 3 hub bolts on the backside?
@RockyXTV
@RockyXTV 6 жыл бұрын
They take an E14 socket, kinda like an inverted torx socket if that makes sense. Thanks for watching!
@pitviper286

Rocky X TV I have the socket but it seems like it doesn't want to fit on the bottom two.
@RockyXTV
@RockyXTV 6 жыл бұрын
I had the same issue, but it ended up that my ratchet was hitting, so I had to find a really small extension. Then I broke that and found a really small swivel extension. I think I also had to tap the socket on because there was a little rust. I hope this helps you out.

If I remember correctly I had to use a ratchet wrench, but I can't say for sure as I did this so long ago. Sorry I couldn't be of any real help.

You need a ratchet and several extensions,and an impact type u-joint to deal with the angles helps alot.

I'll be removing what I'm assuming is the original strut on my '05 Jeep liberty this weekend. I have the "pre-assembled" replacement parts but my question is, will I need to compress the springs on the piece that's currently in there? Thanks!

I'm trying to assemble my OME front struts and springs and my coil spring compressor tool won't work because the coils are too tight. How were you able to assemble yours? I also tried to compress them on my 20T hydraulic press but couldn't get them to compress straight to insert the strut.
@RockyXTV
@RockyXTV 7 жыл бұрын
Detroit Axle sent me their "Quick Struts" They come pre assembled, the lift spacer I used was outside "on top" of the strut so I didn't have to take mine apart. I've heard that getting that spring in is a pain, especially with the Renegade & CRD for some reason. Sorry I couldn't answer your question.

Quite a while as it was pretty much the whole suspension being swapped out. I would say the better part of a weekend if you're doing it by yourself, and without a lift. Thanks for watching!
