I wanted to give some info on lake pigments and other pigments. I'm an artist who uses watercolors a lot. I have been wanting to make my paints and I have learned a lot about pigments. So lake pigments are made from plants. Most watercolor pigments are made from iron oxides, metals, and synthetic pigments which will not fade over time. Painters try not to use lake pigments (plant-based) because over time they will fade in the sun. The most interesting thing about lake pigments is that most are toxic. Madder root makes red pigments. So this root is toxic to ingest. Not only that, but to turn it into a pigment you have to use Alum. The alum is an aluminum salt that acts like a binder for the pigments. Alum is not good for your eyes and can cause serious ocular damage. I suggest looking at ingredients in makeup. If they used synthetic pigments or iron oxides, then they should be ok, but if they use lake pigments then I suggest you don't buy them.

I think James lacks creativity. There’s a lot of gaps in the beauty industry. He could have just filled in some of those gaps and been super successful. But no he decided paints were a better fit.
