I graduated High School in 1985......good times!

Age in scotch and age in bourbon are vastly different. Aging bourbon for 18, 20 or 25years and it's like drinking an oak tree. Age scotch for thr same amount of time and it's probably some of the best whisky you've ever had.

I got about 70 bottles on my shelf in total and few of them are more expensive than Glenmorangie 18 but for the price the Glenmorangie 18 is fantastic.

Totally agree with your conclusions here. Would add that if you wanna try some fancier stuff, take a trip to Scotland and just buy it by the dram at a whisky bar. It'll probably cost damn near as much, but youll get a trip out of it too. And im sure there's bars everywhere where you could do the same thing, just not as big of a selection. So yes, it’s a 32 year Scotch, but that thing changed casks a lot. Would be interested to have seen the same comparison with something that stayed in the same cask for it’s entire aging, because at a certain point oxidation takes over and age becomes subtractive

I have a few pricey bottles, like the Arrrrrdbeg and Stag Jr but my 2 go tos that I drink a lot is Old Tub and the Early Times BIB-which I tried because your video with it in it. I have to drive to SC to get it bc they don’t sell it in NC.

Jeremy I have been watching your videos for a while now but I want to know how you have acquired such a vast variety of whiskeys without drinking them all.

I'm not a whiskey drinker, too many bad memories from when I was a teen 😂😂😂. BUT I'm trying to find a whiskey for a good friend, I live in Norway so all alcohol is expensive, and I don't have a high budget. Any recommendations?? For reference, the Wild Turkey 101 Kentucky Straight Bourbon is $60 and Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Tennessee is $70. My budget is $100

Is that a Drew Estate smoke below the bottles on display? I'd take the $21 bottle and a #9, T-52 or a Ratzilla 10 out of 10 times over a $130 bottle and a Swisher Sweet.

Hey Jeremy what kind of glasses frames do you wear?

High end bottles you aren't paying for value, you are paying for experience. People that want to ask things like "Is it 10x as good as the 100 bottle?" The problem with that thinking is that if you applied it to anything else that thinking doesn't work. Mt. Everest is 29,000 ft above sea level...the definition of a hill is raised land with summit usually at 1000 feet or less. So would you say that climbing a 1000ft hill 29 times is just as good as reaching the summit of Everest? Everest is an experience, you can't replicate it in nature no matter how many times you climb the hill. So these really expensive bottles are about the memory and experience and not the value. I think the categories are Budget - less than 50, Value - less than 200, and then Experience - more than 200, the numbers are fungible but you get the idea. You know your criteria between the first two are different, so why wouldn't we judge by different criteria for the latter two? Your levels will just be based on your circumstances and budget, but the categories still hold I think.

Hold on -- 1985 + 32 = 2017. This scotch has been in the bottle, and on somebody's shelf, for 6 years. At $1000 for the bottle, I can see why. For my limited palate, the "sweet spot" for a single malt Scotch is around $56-60, with many perfectly acceptable examples available for a bit less. For $120, I would rather buy a $50 bottle, a couple of great porterhouse steaks, and a couple of decent cigars. I wouldn't even consider paying a $1000 for a bottle of Scotch.

as an American whiskey and bourbon lover scotch smells like my locker in the field house in high school did.... like moist soaked sweaty weather filled pad shirts and muddy socks. but if you paid 1100 imagine what a pour at a bar would cost. I have whistling pig X and I've seen that on a bar menu for 235$ a 2oz pour when I paid 595 for the bottle.
