Omg I'd be fuming. I'm close to launching my soap business after 3 years of research and testing and we have to pay for product testing in Europe. (Im in the UK) if I found out that someone had plagiarized my entire business I'd go for their jugular.

I just want to say that I have been so inspired by everything you guys have offered on your page but I KNOW that in order to make my own brand that it requires work from my side! Tiffany, I'd say different, but not better. It's sad the thief had no consequences other than taking the stuff down - and probably moving on to the next site to steal. Sounds like Jerika (and her hubby) didn't even get financial compensation for anything, such as tech upgrades, maybe paying someone to help fix all their stuff, etc. So that's not cool. :-(

As a business woman myself, I`m sorry that this happened to you guys! I`ve learned that there are lots of people on KZfaq who download videos that don`t belong to them, and then reload those and make money from the ads. In your case, it`s entirely possible that the culprits like you guys enough to mimic you and simply add their own contact info for sales purposes; it`s possible that they took the other photos from someone else, and don`t make any products at all. In other words, it may all be a scam, in which they fake-sell, and make lots of money from people who don`t want to leave home to shop at brick-and-mortar locations or are just in another country. This is why I myself only shop in the business locations near me; plus- if i need to return or exchange something there`s no issue with going back to the store. Some of what I`ve learned has been through fails, other stuff is through college, and the rest is through people like you.

Steampunk, having a COPY of their entire website (and social media), their product names, their descriptions, their pics, their about us biz info, etc., etc., is NOT MIMICKING or even flattery or influence - it's called intellectual property theft!! And there is NO EXCUSE for it.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I started stamping my soaps pretty early on in my business and I think that can really help deter others from stealing photos. It is more time consuming, but the peace of mind is worth it.

Thank you both for posting this. While I was aware of the protections afforded to intellectual property from the moment of creation, I never dreamed that someone would go to these lengths to copy a successful shop. I am considering opening an online shop in the next 9-12 months, and I can't thank you enough for using this horrific experience to warn the rest of us out here - I will definitely take this into account when I start my branding. Thank you again - for everything that you both do.

I'm so sad and sorry this happened to you. It's said that experience is a good teacher, and while this was a terrible thing done to you, you turned it around into a teaching moment. You guys are a true inspiration. I'm very upset this has happened to both of you, you're so generous in sharing your experience to support other small businesses to also grow by providing valuable advice to problems you have had to find solutions to. Some people simply aren't creative at all and will rely on stealing other people's ideas instead of being original. These types of companies that only know how to copy and are lazy to have their own products and ideas are disconnected from the source of inspiration, companies like that don't last long, and don't go far. You have been so inspiring to me and many others. Must have been horrifying. My heart and support to you both! I know from experience how difficult it is to come up with your own brand and logo. I'm in disbelief of how someone would think it's ok to steal your whole site. I started ordering some of my scents and colors from fizz fairy as per your recommendation but change most of the scent names to be my own. I also have ordered a few things from new directions because of your suggestion. You are so willing to share and offer suggestions. So disgusting. There is a group called PhotoStealers that busts people doing this to photographers because it is such a huge problem. So sad that she did this. Glad you caught it! And thanks for the helpful advice to protect ourselves.

Bless your hearts! I have made a living and raised my children as a single mom of 3 on my art, I wish I could have been as gracious as you when people copy and steal my hard work!!! That being said, thanks so much for all the work you two do, I'm going to add a few soaps to my holiday booths this year, I have learned so much from you lovelies, keep being you! Hopefully that person was a very young person (teen?)that did not know better. If they were an adult that stole intentionally, I feel bad for them, they will fail in the end and will never truly know how you feel inside to make something of yourself! Keep up the videos! Can you, or have you done one on just cool patterns, designs in the soap? I'm working on pretty now, lol!

I think you guys are such good-hearted and kind business owners. It's such a shame you've had to experience someone profiting off of YOUR hard work, but I think you both have handled it BEAUTIFULLY, and are very courageous to share your unfortunate experience with others in an effort to help other small business owners avoid having this happen to them. I can imagine most people simply shutting EVERYTHING down, so kudos to the two of you for remaining so helpful, open though more cautious, and not allowing this to make you bitter. I have experienced this too many years ago. I found there was a difference between someone who loved your ideas so much they wanted to use it as a model vs item by item duplication stealing. Thanks for sharing your experience in such a positive and helpful way. I loved how you pointed out the wrong actions in a calm and focused way to cause strong and positive change not seek to "get someone back" for their actions.

I have had this happen to me as well but not on a complete copy of everything. I started teaching soap making workshops a few years ago and discovered that several people taking the workshops were just attempting to copy what I was doing. One person actually did use my product in her pictures to announce the opening of her business. She had also been demanding I give her all my supplies and other info. I couldn't believe how bold she was and how angry she became when I called her out on it. I really enjoy your videos. I find you so honest about all the ups and downs of this business which is a great encouragement when I get discouraged and you have great tips that inspire me.

Omg cant believe tht happen to you guys..tht is scary to know there are ppl out there tht is not willing to do the work themselves im just starting myself and i know just from wht little bit ive done how hard it is but stealing someone elses work isnt mine and i personally would not feel good about my stuff being sold i have a conscious so i could not do tht its sickening knowing tht there are ppl tht dnt care and dont have a conscious or respect for the person who did the work..i have to say i love you guys and i know how much hard work you done to get your business and ur brand goin you guys are amazing and i think you handled it very well i wish you nothing but the best good job and thank you for sharing this horrible ordeal

This is so weird... There's an IG page that I've reported for using other soaper's photos and videos to advertise their soap making classes without permission - passing the work off as their own. But this is some next level stuff. Did they actually have those products available for sale or did they just advertise they had them? That would've been interesting to find out. Like they take your money and never send the item?

I admire how you handled this, I am building a small business in Kansas and I have found inspiration in others like yourself. However, and this is a huge however.. I have never, nor will ever directly copy anyone. I would feel honored if someone drew inspiration from me, but again we owe it to ourselves to be individuals, work hard, build ourselves up with our own design, brand, creations... you can’t be proud at the end of the day when you’ve stolen from another. You guys are great, I just found y’all and I hope you keep up the good work!!! I use Shopify too, love it. ❤️

@@joan-lisa-smith that’s how my Grandma is sometimes & it’s SO FUNNY! 😂😂 I gifted her a beautiful infinity crochet scarf for the cool autumn season. It was mustard yellow-orangish golden color. Really pretty, so I thought! 🤦🏽‍♀️ She said, “Oh woooow, how nice, it’s so cozy & warm...u sure know how to pick an unfavorable color” 🤣😂😂 May smile quickly went to my mouth dropping WIDE open, to hysterical laughter! 😂

@@EverythingTammy Ha ha! Good you can just brush it off and see it as just how she is and be ok with it. I bet she's rubbed a few the wrong way over the years with that as some can be really hurt by a flippant remark. Some can be so good at it you say "thanks!' then as you walk away in your head you slowly start with "wait, was I just insulted?"

So sorry this happened to you guys. I actually watch another KZfaqr from the states and she recently had the SAME thing happen to her. Strsnge thing as well, both of your names rhymes with one another. I understand how someone can be inspired but that's taking it to another level.

The exact thing happened to one of my friends, not exactly soap business lol, but they copied exactly word-by-word his literature report in order to get in a high-end literature school in Vietnam, it caused tons of dramatics back then in our communities lol. Your business is very inspiring, and what you guys doing here is so amazing. I can't believe there are such stupid people, who think that they can do that BS and thought that they would never get away with that... You guys are amazing, keep on the good works.

The fact that they went to great lengths of laziness amazes me. Researching for inspiration is one thing but at this level it’s copyright. You have every right to be more than upset. I feel your frustration through the screen. My heart goes out to you and we are all forever grateful for helping us all on our journey to soap making.

As for the people who who do these kind of things, they can never move forward as they are always looking to see what others are doing to make their next ugly move. Hi, I am a new follower and this video caught my eye. I am so sorry this happened to you, it is so unacceptable! I have a business, but during covid, I put it on vacation for personal reasons and decided to start it up a few months ago because a friend asked to try it again. I was so interested in making the shower steamers and came to look for a good video, and I found you!! This is scary on all levels, and I am watching and responding as I prepare for church. I want to thank you for your honesty and transparency. For just giving this information about copyright (I know about this as I do some graphic art LOL). But it is sad that someone would copy word for word and use your pictures is just horrible. As you said, just move forward, and watermark your products and images... thanks for all this great advice!!! Wishing you continued success and I am so glad I found you guys!! xoxoxoxo Mags ♥

The fact that they took it down without legal fees, is great!💖👏👏👏well done! One enemy you didn't have to make! You may neve be besties or even be able to associate, but at least you haven't created a complete out and open enemy, or perhaps the kudos should go to them? For having the common sense to realise what needed to happen as soon as you called it out, but at least it's taken care of quickly and quietly. Thank you for discussing this problem only. I highly doubt you'll be the only one to experience this problem.

Thank you for sharing, this is very empowering, I'm sorry you went through this. I had some people come up to me and ask for my products and put their labels on them, and it felt awful, so I will definitely take the steps that you are talking about.
