MELVYN SEALS is such a good keyboard player! He doesn't get enough credit for it. MELVYN SEALS kept on truckin' after GARCIA passed with, THE MELVYN SEALS AND JERRY GARCIA BAND - great respect for the guy. Before anyone got settled after GARCIAS' passing, MELVYN SEALS barged right in. They're doing great little venues - low key, lotta action - and they'll let you plug into their mother board. 👏👏👏 MELVYN SEALS 🧳🧳🛸

I'm a lifelong deadhead since the early '70s, love them. But to me no question Jerry jammed more freely and joyously in this setting. Jerry Garcia jamming freely and joyously is about as good as music gets.

Became a fan late (at his death) & preferred Jerry with the Jerry Garcia Band: especially Dear Prudence & I Shall Be Released. Jerry possessed a talent & unfortunately an obsession with that talent, but hey, that's why I dug him. Addicted to that talent. Genius!!

Rare the cover that tops the original, especially where Beatles song are concerned, but this was tailor made for the good Captain and he does not disappoint !
@seurynck8 жыл бұрын
I love Jerry, but this doesn't top the original. He can't remember the lyrics and messed up most of the first verse and part of the second verse. More importantly, the bass line that Paul McCartney plays makes the song. Just my opinion ~ Peace!
@beatricebutler75708 жыл бұрын
Live performances tend to make Deadheads more tolerant of individual performances. I consider both versions absolutely magnificent, alchemy in sound. Jerry's pace really adds a plumbing heaviness, or impatience, or substance to Paul's lovely la-la-la-liness (which also sweetens/disguises a Nowhere Man message). Ya shudda known better than to jump into a grateful thread... ; )
@carlv14307 жыл бұрын
Jerry loved it & @ this point I think that's all that matters. What a smile in this one goddess bless him.
@DHudelson6 жыл бұрын
A lot to like here, and I guess it takes a Deadhead to fully appreciate the extended jam aspect, where nothing new is introduced for long stretches. that said, there are some cool, new ideas that could be worked into something more concise.
@herbythechef76246 жыл бұрын
Ahh yes definitely tops the beatles version. Jerry was on top of the world in that jam. Passionate as one could be. Nothing left to do but smile

I definitely think Jerry at this time in his life. He was just overall more happy playing with JGB than he ever was with GD. I think in the 90s GD was a job JGB was his passion. His performance and just overall soul at JGB was so vibrant and palpable.
