Jessica Tandy is synonym of great acting, be it on stage or on film. How wonderful to have been able to catch glimpses of her immense talent in a few films. I saw her on stage once doing the famous "candle" monologue from A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE and in three minutes she had the whole audience in tears. A great actress, a great lady. I'd love it if you guys could put Gregory Peck's Oscar victory speech for "To Kill a Mockingbird". So Oscars, when you're doing your next batch of uploads, could you try to keep that in mind?

It's a shame this world is losing people of this generation. Such class, grace and humility. This world will never have people of this caliber again.

"Driving Miss Daisy" may not have been a great film, but Jessica Tandy was marvelous in it. I was in awe of her throughout.

What is interesting is Gregory Peck's announcement of Janet Gaynor and her Academy Award win. Miss Gaynor, at the time of the First Academy Awards Ceremony was the youngest of all actresses, and when Jessica Tandy won, she became the oldest recipient. (Both records still stand today.)

Ace Ventura Marlee Matlin actually surpassed her record a couple of years prior, what's interesting and very coincidental is that the youngest nominee for Best Actress at time Isabelle Adjani and the oldest at the time of course Jessica Tandy are nominated simultaneously on same category . 😃

Tender story. Great photography and brilliant music. My favourite picture is when camera is on the tyre ( when she wants to go to grocery ), car moves off and the main music theme starts.

A lot of people think this was an unworthy Best Picture winner, but I've always liked it and come back to it often. It is poignant, and the acting is great. Like the catchy theme too.

I realize Jessica Tandy had a great theater & film trajectory. However, Isabelle Adjani was absolutely mesmerizing as Camille Claudel. I personally feel Adjani's performance was more nuanced, varied and impassioned. I would have chosen Adjani.

elamantebilingue Me too, Academy actually owe her 4 Oscars, in 1975, she would have won if only Louise Fletcher was rightly placed as Best Supporting Actress nominee; in 1981 she should have won for Possession but wasn't even nominated; that year, 1989; and in 1994 for Queen Margot but then again she wasn't even nominated. I still fervently hope she wins the Best Leading Actress Oscar in the future. 😃

I totally agree with you. I believe the reason they gave Cher the oscar was because she should've gotten it for Mask and Glenn unfortunately paid for the academy's mistake, but that's just my opinion!!!!
