So much gratitude ladies! For your input. I have been looking on travel to Japan for some years now and the timing wasn’t right. I am looking to place an application for both honestly. I have my husband and son with his wife. My husband and I will likely submit application for both. It would be wonderful to be in the culture of levity and peacefulness. We are practicing Buddhist from a community that originally came from Japan. Our Sensei transitioned in November. We are sad but would love to join the community there. 🫶🏿💞🫶🏿💞🫶🏿💞🫶🏿

I had to get the Shinkansen from Nagoya to Shizuoka. I couldn't find the people them. Couldn't use the phone card I bought. I was there on the point of breaking down. Then I heard a piano playing. I saw a man in the middle of the station playing the piano. I just showed him the number for the Interac people and he called them for me, then they said come downstairs. It was rough but God is good.

Sounds like the woman on JET had a dream position! I was in JET in 2017-2018 and yes they pay for your airfare (Interac does not) but I had to buy my own food, toiletries, microwave, and other necessities by myself. I wasn’t given any of that. So that’s definitely not something all JETs get. If you do, you’re blessed. JET AND Interac expect you to bring at least 2000 USD to cover your first month in Japan.

Me too. I got interviewed once and shortlisted the second time around. A friend of a friend was telling me how they knew a guy whose relative works at the Japanese consulate here in Trinidad and that's how he got it. Its soooo frustrating that in this small country the only way to get in is based on connections. Wished I had dual citizenship and could apply through the U.S cause that's what a girl from my university did, flew there for the interview and got in in her first shot since there is higher intake of ALTs from "1st world" English speakers. Sigggh

@@NoBody-yi6rc You was a JET? Congrats! Well, I didn't get accepted to JET for the 3rd time. I didn't even past the application stage. I applied to Interac and passed the application stage. My app got put on hold because I didn't have a passport and needed one to move on to the interview stage. After a month and a half later, I finally got my passport. Once I got my passport, I emailed them. I was actually excited about joining Interac because I met some people who had good experiences. I also like how their orientations was a week long and not 2 days on learning how to be an ALT. Man.....I got an email from them saying that my application will before spring 2023 and some other stuff. I was done trying to get into Japan. My child dream. I gave up Japan, living life in Japan and working as a professional artist in Japan at my dream studio back in July. I'm already 31 years old and already feel left behind in life compared to everybody else because I was too focused on trying to get to Japan and South Korea for study or work and I spent a lot of time working on my art and getting better at it. I tried to get to Japan through scholarships for studying abroad, summer abroad and for work but I never get selected. I'm not gonna spend my 30's and the rest of my life trying to achieve that goal. My high school IEP teachers were right. They told my parent not to be disappointed in me because I won't go far in life and how I won't be able to hold a job and will always be dependent on them due to my autism and learning disability in sequential processing disorder. One of them, my high school counselor had something to do with me not being able to get accepted for a scholarship to study in China because she had to write a letter of recommendation. She even took me out of Chinese class after the first day and said I couldn't do it because it will be too hard for me. I cried like a baby. My parents fought with her and had her enrolled me back into the class. I ended up getting mostly "A's" and I was the best student in my class. They were right about me not going far in life and I was wrong for believing that I could and that I will achieve my dreams of moving to Japan to prove everybody wrong. It's okay, because I'm planning to live life alone living off grid in the rural area and work on my own anime projects to make income.

@@art-byfayleif3938 My heart was broken when I got rejected. When I experienced my first rejection from JET, I had a brain zap and that was the only time I had it. It felt like my head got struck by lightning. I was crying all day for like a week. That's how heart broken I was. The way I handled the rejections the last two times were a lot better. Last year, I cried a little bit and it took me less then a week to get over it. This year, I didn't cry and got over it the day I was rejected. This year was my first time not applying to JET. I can't handle another rejection.

How did you find another job after reaching Japan with Interac? Did you have to get citizenship?
