Welcome to our Jewish Food Tour series. Join us to discover the role of Jewish culinary traditions in today’s Polish cuisine.
Mary and Agnieszka are off on a culinary tour of Podlasie. They visit Białystok, Tykocin and Podlasie Herb Garden in Koryciny. This is the realm of a delicious Jewish pie: bialystoker kuchen. It is also a region where, when ordering a meal, you get a taste of the history of Poland and Lithuania. The centuries of coexistence of people from different cultures who made up one state-Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - are writ large in local culinary traditions.
By fixing meals based on Fania Lewando’s recipes, Mary and Agnieszka discover culinary treasures of Podlasie, namely local produce and spices. They also present flavours typical of Ashkenazi cuisine, albeit in its Northern, less sweet version.

Mnie też to zastanawiało.

When the Germans came, Polish citizens in Jedwabne In Bialystok beat hundreds of Jews to death and burned hundreds of them alive, including children. I wouldn’t give that area of the world a penny.

Wait till you hear what Ukrainians, Lithuanians and Serbs did. You might be surprised but Germans also did domek things. It's easy for you to remember Jedwabne, but it's hard to remember Irena Sendler, Ulma Family and over 5,000 Polish trees in Yad Vashem Institute (largest number of all countries).

By writing such nonsense, you prove your ignorance, maybe even stupidity... You have no idea about the war, you have no idea what happened here. You're sitting somewhere in the USA and writing nonsense. You've heard something about Jedwabne, maybe you've read something. But do you know the truth? Yes, a terrible thing happened in Jedwabne. Poles (criminals) did not do it themselves. The initiator was the Germans. But you Jews have a patent for truth. You know everything. But you don't remember your own sins and crimes

have been traveling in that area and in the rest of Poland for several years and I can say that the young Jews who come to Poland do very well to bring their guards. just look at certain murals, -stars of David tied to a noose, and so on, the Polacchios hate Jews but not only: all foreigners. I have never seen a more xenophobic and racist people, I stopped going there because I got tired of their air of superiority (I was a tourist). I am quite knowledgeable about what happened in Poland and the hatred of the Poles towards the Jews. damn if I go back

I see that my entry has been deleted. But I will answer you again. You have no idea about the war, about the years of German cruelty in occupied Poland. You sit somewhere in New York or Boston and write nonsense because you heard something. Do you think only Jews were killed? Poles were also murdered. Many lost their lives for helping Jews. We are not saints, we are human, we have advantages and disadvantages. The choice is not always easy. I am very curious how Jews would behave in the place of Poles. ps. The murder in Jedwabne was a Polish-German crime. Needless to say, it's German inspiration (Sonderkomando SS). Such crimes could not have happened without German participation.
