FYI "indian food" here in the UK is actually British the Korma and Massala were invented in midlands as was the balti, curries are of course originally from India as its a way of masking the taste of cheap or poor quality meat. But the actual dishes served in indian take out restaurants etc is actually British.

I tend to stick to North American food which has tended to get me some flack. But my grandfather who is Portuguese pretty much exclusively eats Portuguese food, despite living in Canada for over 50 years. No one knocks him for sticking to the cuisine of where he's originally from. So why do I get a hard time? His food is foreign and exotic from a Canadian perspective but is the same old unadventurous stuff from a Portuguese one. Would you knock an Indian person who sticks to Indian food or a Colombian person who sticks to Colombian food? Probably not, so don't knock a North American person that sticks to their local cuisine.
@AirBuddDwyer
@AirBuddDwyer 3 жыл бұрын
First of all, yes I would knock anyone from literally any part of the world for being so philistine if they were presented with the opportunity to sample other cuisines and could reasonably afford to eat them. And secondly, it's not like he said "hey I just like what I know I like and I'm not interested in trying anything new," (which is fine, it's not what I'd do but it's his life he doesn't HAVE to eat anything he doesn't want to). What he actually did was refer to Indian food with dismissive disdain (despite the fact that he at least implied that he had never even tried it) and then somehow couldn't believe Colombian people would have their own cuisine (I believe he said "what the fuck even is Colombian food anyway???"). He came off in this instance as really obnoxiously arrogant and ignorant, and it wasn't because he just sticks to own cuisine (which I think is also really good by the way). He said what he likes is clearly better than these other options even though he wouldn't have any idea since he refuses to try everything else and then went on to ridicule Brian like he was stupid or crazy for liking food that is actually delicious that, once again, Jim can't speak on with any authority. So I guess you could add "imperious" to the list of things Cornette comes off as here also.
