When I was a senior in high school in 2017 I was at the Cracker Barrel in my hometown in Georgia a day or two before wrestlemania weekend. I was standing up at the counter paying and recognized Jim’s voice across the gift shop, I walked up and introduced myself and told him I was a fan. Jim off the bat was as friendly of a celebrity or stranger that I have ever met. We talked just for a second, told me he was on the way down to Orlando for the HOF induction and one of the guys riding with him had never been to a Cracker Barrel so they had to stop. The experience of meeting him and the picture we took are some of my most cherished memories.

Jim...I was in Fairmont, West Virginia a few years ago with my Son, and stopped at a Diner called "The Poky Dot" They have the "He-Man" Challenge breakfast that if you finish in 45 minutes it's free, you get a T-shirt, and your picture on the wall. 4 eggs, 4 pancakes, a ham steak, 3 bacon, 3 sausage links, country fried potatoes, an order of toast, and....BISCUITS & GRAVY! I finished everything except 2 pancakes, and my Son ate the entire thing in under the time limit! Cool diner, really cool decor, and HUGE portions of food.

I have never been one for eating challenges. I did a huge ribeye one time and got through it, but it was rough. When I was a teen there was a New York Giant pizza place near the library where my parents lived. They made a pizza so large that me and two friends had to hold it on the roof of the car on the way home. One slice was as long as your inner elbow to your finger tip. One of these friends was over 300lbs and had NO problems eating. By the time midnight hit, between the three of us, we still had half the pizza left over. Stacked in the fridge.

A better comparison would be an American sushi place because I can only think of a few Japanese sushi places looked at that way. You can go to くら寿司 and other places and in Japan and it's all pretty much what you would consider "high-end" simply for being more fresh than what you typically get elsewhere. However, if Brian actually went to Jiro's restaurant and actually tried to order that, he'd be laughed out of the building.

@@thnzxc 1 lb breakfast sausage, you pick the protein unsalted butter, margarine, or your favorite alternative (this has no measurement, as you will add only enough to make 6 oz of total fat after rendering protein) 6 oz all-purpose flour (for GF, use 2oz rice flour, 4 oz potato or tapioca flour) 1.5 quart H&H or heavy cream (retain an extra pint to add, as needed) 6 oz brewed black coffee Salt, pepper, cayenne, and granulated garlic to taste (minimum 1 tsp each) Start by placing a 12 inch skillet or 4 quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Add sausage of your choice to skillet and cook until not quite browned. Remove, drain, and retain the fat drained off. If it measures to 3/4 cup, no additional fat is needed. If short of 6 fluid ounces, add your preferred fat so as to ensure the total is 6 ounces, fluid or dry. Return fat to pan over medium heat and bring up to at least boiling. Add flour and cook for 3-5 minutes, whisking vigorously. Once roux has formed, add dairy, sausage, seasonings, and coffee and whisk together until integrated. Bring to a boil for 1-3 minutes, reduce heat, and whisk for 2-3 minutes until uniformly thickened. That's pretty much it. It's "toothbrush simple". The less you screw with it, the better it turns out.

Biscuits and gravy is one of those things where if it's properly made it's classic American comfort food, but if the quality isn't there it can be unappealing. Biscuits and gravy served at a hotel's continental breakfast for example is usually not very good at all. Biscuits and gravy your mom made or from a local diner that looks like it should be condemned served by a 65 year old waitress named Mabel are wonderful.

For real. Everything @ IHOP ships to the place inna heavy plastic bag they first plunk into boiling water to heat it before it hits the commercial microwave with a vent hole cut innit. Even the pancake mix comes in a pre-mixed tube that has to thaw out. As for Waffle House? Maaan, you can watch everything get made and see the package the food is coming from in the fridge. Edit: yo if you live anywhere on earth ihop still bunk af
