I have watched several trials start to finish and I don’t ever recall seeing the defendant approach the bench for sidebar.

Maybe it's because it's in Florida? Unless you've watched other trials in Florida, then I have no clue.

Kathy Dunlay yes, that’s what I’ve gathered from the bits I’ve watched all out of order..they were complete idiots!!! Wayne didn’t even clarify with mark whether she was due home at 11:30 or her flight wAs coming in at that time so he just assumed at 11:30 she was getting off a plane ..it’s so awful and gross and they were so blundering and idiotic..but so he and the defendant were going over possibilities..checking out the house -laying in wait - and hadn’t figured a damn thing out -btw it’s so stupid it should be unbelievable but when you look at those involved hear the whole story and consider..yep.. that sounds right.. THREE dipshit losers brutally murdered a lady and a man destroyed his children’s lives...in an idiotic plan that they spent five minutes reasoning through.. it’s beyond!!

When Roberts and Wayne staked out the place at 6am that morning, Roberts told Wayne that the hammer would be Teresa’s “destiny”. So it wasn’t really a weapon of opportunity.

I know, he’s really on top of things, but he never inserts himself unnecessarily, just lets the lawyers get on with it! I can’t imagine having to be on the sidelines for days and days, while simultaneously keeping razor sharp focus on everything the lawyers say. If he doesn’t, they could get by with an error which could result in a successful mistrial motion. Not to mention knowing all the laws governing procedure in such complicated trials, so the work of the prosecutors isn’t wasted due to a successful appeal by the defendant.

Watching this after quite a bit of time has passed. The judge is hysterical. He should be tossing himself popcorn catching it in his mouth...his patience are very thin after so much nonsense only during Day 2. The lead female defense attorney should absolutely go back for a refresher course. She’s horrific.
@voraciousreader33412 жыл бұрын
While I agree with your statement about the defense attorney, I couldn’t disagree more with your assessment of the judge. I think he’s excellent, especially when I can compare him so favorably with several other judges in the trials I’ve watched. You have to be a certain kind of person to be able to tell instantly when a lawyer has gone off the beam procedurally in order to avoid a mistrial. Not to mention having a thorough knowledge of the laws of jurisprudence involving murder trials....it’s crazy how much they have to be able to apply at the drop of a hat, and this guy does it! And I have no idea how they can keep laser focus when they’re not actively trying the case! Anyway, both of Sievers’ appeals were denied so far, and I believe one of Rodgers’ has, so this judge must be doing something right.

I agree, lots of searching for notes, re-re-re-formulating, 3 questions when one would be enough to get to the point , sometimes even confusing their own witnesses - both seem ill prepared and have problems with clear questions. But then we have been pampered by extremely smart, well spoken prosecutors / lawyers in these Law & Crime cases lately who knew their cases by heart - and also not everyone feels at ease under constant monitoring of TV cameras. I am sure they are nervous and will get better.
@regineuhe66574 жыл бұрын
I just explained in detail what it was I was critical of. Repeated long pauses while searching the next question, asking witnesses questions they already answered etc. And you are right if you are suggesting I have no legal experience in an US courtroom other than watching lots of trials from opening to closing, since I am in Europe. I you want to belittle me for that, fine. However, several well spoken, eloquent (often female) prosecutors I have seen and heard lately and they are what I am comparing their performance to. Not the proceedings are what I find boring, just the way they present their case so far. But anyway I just quit watching this case and went to watch a different one for told reasons. I just answered someone elses comment, I apologize if I hurt your feelings.
@denkat20104 жыл бұрын
@@regineuhe6657 I have had the same feeling as you, many, many, times. I say "asked and answered" many times, in my head. Our criminal justice system has gotten overloaded with unnecessary rules. Most trials last twice as long as they need. The endless side-bars are particularly annoying. As you, I have been watching trials since way back at the inception of Court TV. When I was still working I would tape the trials (on a VCR...LOL) and watch them later. That's how I watched the entire OJ Simpson trial. I listen mostly. While the trial is playing in the background, I do jigsaw puzzles...LOL Because of my years of trial "watch", I'd make a lousy juror.
@girlnextdoor07034 жыл бұрын
I agree Regine, 100%. This prosecution is not coming off well at all. Don't mind JusticeAA, they actually know very little about the law and simply take offense to anything negative said about the prosecution.

I am very familiar with this area in Florida. This area is known to be a very affluent area and as such they don’t see as much crime and violence. There are not many jury trials in this area much less high profile ones. I mention this as I believe this to be the reason the prosecutors come off to be as inexperienced as they do. If you listen to the detectives you will here their inexperience in testifying. The few cases this area deals with rarely make it all the way to a jury trial. They are fighting for justice that’s what matters the most.

I thought she was _terrible,_ SO obsequious to the jury (“MY jury,” “MY juries”), and putting every witness through the same grilling about the stupid microphone. She also seemed to enjoy inserting herself into the process when she could, and worst of all, forcing the trial to move at breakneck pace bc of a supposed incoming hurricane, which could jeopardize the excellent prosecutor’s case by creating the possibility for a successful appeal. She wasn’t nearly as bad as the judge in the Travis Alexander trial, but I’ll be happy to never see her mug again!
